Lachlan Galvin here we come

Galvin rejected a contract extension.
West Tigers incited a media circus by telling the world about it.
In a world of salary cap and rules around when you can discuss contracts with a player, i think its fair for Tigers to cry foul in the media having offered their player an unprecedented deal and him turning it down point blank and going as far as saying he wont be at the club after his current deal ends.

All the Tigers did was stop short of accusing him and his manager of doing an illegal deal.

We all know its been agreed to.. But they'll just play the game until Nov 3 or 4 to disguise it

Good on the Tigers for calling it out.

This is not dissimilar to Manly and DCE, although DCE may in fact retire or take up a corporate opprtunity which will save face.

Galvin is young and has his whole RL career ahead of him. He's not retiring or moving into media or going bavk to AFL.

He'll end up at another club, most likely on a ridiculous deal.

There's nothing wrong with this, assuming he links up with the right club. It's a fact there are better teams and coaches to play under for a better chance to develop as a player. Tiger are just salty. Utoikamanu and Thompson done the same thing (yes Galvin still had 18 months left, but if anything that gives Tiger longer to prepare, they would of had insane value playing Galvin on his current contract, now it's looking untenable due to how Tiger have reacted). If Galvin now goes out and signs with Eel he's full of shit, but until that happens he's done nothing wrong. In today's world with a good lawyer they probably are going to have some case for a release (unfair dropping + "bullying" in the workplace).
Yeah but that comment is as piss poor as players going to Roosters for less "because they want a chance of winning a premiership"

Lets face it, if the offers are within 10% of each other, you probably start to look at other factors than money.

But they offered him $5M and i can only count about 3 other spines in the comp that are better than the Tigers....

What possible better development is out there for him?

Benji has so much relevant advice to impart on the kid, he was once an up and coming 5/8 himself

Likely the Eels, Moses is trying to put some quality around his nephew. Let's hope it's a contract full of clauses too

That’s why I don’t believe Galvin is coming to the dogs. If Gus pays overs then he loses the playing group and why would Galvin want to come here for 600k a season when he can get paid millions elsewhere.
Idk if you watch the epl but Liverpool have always been like that they'll never pay overs if you want more than the system can give then cya

the funny thing is that Parra is also trying to get rid of Isaac Moses as he holds too much influence there, now he will hold their 2 best players. They cant get rid of him

Liverpool !?! Haven't we acquired the pool and surrounding area ? Lol

He isn't elite, and there only only a handful of elite halves in the NRL, but he's quality, already better than someone like Dylan Brown (I'd say even Burton). Throw on top the endless potential he has. He's probably worth 800k but when there's a lot of competition and not many good halves on the market you get more. Leo Thompson isn't worth what we're paying him next year and Galvin is also worth more than him.
What are we paying Thompson?

LOL !

A guy who has achieved nothing but a wooden spoon against his name is better than Burton who already has a premiership, origin and Australian honours. OK brady, you never cease to surprise

So he’ll go to the eels to further his development under Jason Ryles….go figure

I'll tell you why....
Because Benny, of all people, should put the club above his personal relationships.

And he didnt.
He tried to put the blame on the club. The same club that gave the kid a chance. The same club that built a team around him, the same club that is proving to finally come out of the cellar and the same club that came to the table with an unprecedented offer.

If this is any other manager, Elias comes onto the show amd cries blue murder. But as soon as it involves a family member or relation, he swings the other way.

Piss poor from Elias and kudos to Anasta who rubbed his face in it.
So if I understand correctly.

Any person who has the club's best interests should put them first before anything else. Right?

Does that mean the CEO represents the club? And people like Benny should put them first before anything else?

Did you have the same feeling when Mortimer spoke out against Raylene and Hasler? I mean, you must've as he should've put the club first before anything, right?

I get that Benny has personal relationships and I know what you're trying to say but ...

Maybe just maybe he actually is looking from a club point of view and feels that they didn't handle this all too well.

And if, as you say correctly, club is always first then that also means before the CEO or any men / women in suits at the club.

And I think the CEO and the men/women at the club absolutely ballsd this up which it seems Benny agrees with.

Doesn't mean Galvin was right in what he did but ....

Rather than under the tutelage of a former halves prodigy . . . Make it make sense
