Official Lachlan Galvin Discussion

As one of the flogs said on 360 last night.
"Love or hate him Gus has assembled a quality squad, when we are arguing about who has to miss out and where they all fit in, whilst coming 1st ".
Can you please refer to "360" with its official name...

The Real Housewives of the nrLOL

WIll be really interesting to see how this bloke goes, huge risk bringing him in, do nothing and we easily finish 1-4. To be close to parachuting straight into the halves of the side coming first with 1 loss in an un-origin affected game is crazy. Must be crazy good to take that risk.

Wasnt Metcalf a 6 through the grades?

To me i dont see why he cant do what Sexton does for us now as a seven. Do we really play a style that relys on a dominant seven?

I think he'll be fine at seven tbh.

This is what I have said many times. These days the six and seven have very similar roles. It’s obvious to most the Galvin can play in the halves. Just a matter of who he is best partnered with. Currently that’s Burton.

Agreed.

Some teams still have the dominant 7, but the way we play i think he'll be fine.

He can do what Sexton does but poses a bigger threat when he runs, in which Sexton doesnt.

And yes. Galvin can easily do what Sexton can do. But neither have as good a long kicking game as Burton.

Burton gets the ball coming out of trouble. Galvin gets it when we are attacking the oppositions line.

Cant understand the hatred directed at Galvin. He's just a young guy who wants to be a professional footballer at a
club where he can develop the necessary skills. That was not happening at the Tigers. Almost all of the comments in the media
were from the tigers coach, the CEO or the player manager. I didn't see one from Galvin.
He will slot into the team seamlessly. Also, most of the negotiations were conducted by Ciraldo and not Gould.

I don't think that's exactly what he said, rather he was hinting he was in a comfort zone and needed to be pushed out of it. Not that he wasn't developing and he said that Benji and co had been good.

Tigers fans going on like it's everyone's fault but their club that other teams keep taking their best players.

As the saying goes, winning starts at the front office and that joint has more issues than Ezra Miller

Tigers fans are the actual lowest common denominator.

If you watch him play, he still plays like a 6. It's why he has so many running metres. He still has that run first attitude, which he puts away from time to time to let the forwards do there work. Another guy like that is the Storms Jahrome Hughes, great runner of the footy who always has an eye out for a gap. It's a terrible saying, but eyes up footy is what they are playing, and I think the halfback role is changing and becoming more of a threat in that role is a big part of that transition after it went to a more system player ball distrubution role.

The plan that Phil Gould, Weidler and everyone has said was Galvin is going to be the 7. It’s why there’s a rumour that Toby will quit the club.
So if Galvin is the future 7, Burton is the future 6 and Hayward is the future 9… where Woods fit in?
I think Woods will likely breakthrough towards the end of next year, and he might even play some 14 before he is trusted with starting in the halves.

He could play at fullback, or Burton might be shifted to lock or Burton might end up in Perth. Or Woods might just not work out.

I figure he will get time when injuries hit next year, or origin time. He will be brought on slowly next year so he gets a taste and goes back and continues to work on his game. At some point he will play a game that says there is no way you can take him out of first grade.

Woods has a lot of accolades. I’m fearing that Galvins acquisition might lead to Woods leaving. He could go to Manly/Brisbane or whoever has an ageing halfback and get a clear inheritance to the number 7 in 2027 and I think sharks wil circle.
If he wanted he could even compete for the 7 in 2026 if he went south’s or saints and that might be attractive for him to work under both those coaches who are held in high regard.

Galvin is special but he doesn’t have that turn of speed a modern day 5/8 needs. I think potentially 7 is more suited to him

If we are winning, who wants to leave? Anywhere else is a gamble. It's why guys like Pezet and Wishart haven't left Melb even though they could probably get a starting gig at most clubs. They realise that they are in a good situation and an opportunity will arise for them to grab a first grade position and what the plans are at the club to move on guys in front of them.

Football speed is different to just speed. You can change how much speed you have by being a playmaker, holding the ball in certain ways which slows down the defence cause they are unsure of what you are going to do. Footwork to standup guys. 5/8ths don't need to be super fast. They need footwork cause generally they are going against middles.

You genuinely might be right. Made me think. Although I suspect they are buying time to the feeding frenzy when Perth enters. Their value will go up immensely in 18 months.

It will be a good time to offload those who CC doesn't see working out in our system.
