No more damaging than the countless articles we’ve already seen about our players being released early, switching positions and there’s even journalists saying how some can’t be happy about their salaries vs Galvin. All in the name of destabilisation and all because some player managers are leaking info to suit their agendas. If we give some back then all fine with me. I wish it were as simple as us ignoring articles and getting on with footy but sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. Big club doing big club things.

Sorry, I don’t buy that. We can’t control what others write but putting stuff out there that is critical of a young player who appears to have been shafted after helping us get to where we currently are and would be pretty devo right now is just plain shitty. There’s absolutely no need for it.

Most players are pretty good at blocking out the media, but when that media message of negativity is coming from within your own club and you have shown nothing but passion for and loyalty to that club… poor Sexy.

I don’t disagree. Although I don’t think we can win the comp with Sexton

Although I feel like Sexton had some knowledge of this since a month ago because it coincides with his massive drop off in form since then.

Yep you are 100% correct I never wanted to sign him for my own reasons, but wether or not I like it he’s a bulldog until he isn’t, so wanting him to develop properly is what’s best for the club in my view. And I am not suggesting anything to anyone it’s my POV take or leave it.

If a certain journo who shall remain nameless thinks articles like this make us look better in the eyes of anyone but the thoroughly indoctrinated, he is sorely mistaken. Not to mention a certain someone who is no doubt rubber stamping these articles.

We saw exactly the same kind of kick ‘em when they are down articles circulating in the lead up to JAC’s exit. Well, Sexton wasn’t caught with any gear. He never did anything to let the club down, so what’s the excuse this time?

I like winning as much as anyone but it’s a shame some at the club or close to the club can’t be more decent about it.

You have some good takes and some bad takes, this one is a bad take. All this nameless journo did was call it as it is. Your problem is that said journo is a mate of Gus and that is unforgivable.

Gus’s number one media mouthpiece is putting out columns saying he’s not good enough. I’d say that’s a pretty good indicator.

What happened to you? For a while there you were honest enough to call out Gus’s ego driven and completely unnecessary media machinations.

Yeah it’s no surprise that we’ve been trying to shield him to some degree from the vultures, because he’s clearly very mentally young, as most of us are at 19.

Just leave him alone and let him play footy.

No, this highlights exactly why I don’t like Gus. As good an administrator as he can be, he’s happy to let his media mouthpieces put out a column bagging a young player who has given his all for the club and played a role in getting us to where we are. A player who would be pretty demoralised and down on confidence right now.

In my view that is completely unnecessary and very shitty. And the only reason it has happened is Gus can’t hack the fact he’s being bagged in the media. There’s no way these gossipy columns benefit the club or change the perceptions of its detractors. This is all about one man’s ego.
