As for 1.7 mill/year I think it is too much with the cap as it currently stands. If he is injured you have about 1/6 of your salary cap on the sideline.

What I am thinking is we pump all our efforts into third party sponsorships and only have 1 mil on the cap. I don’t see why we couldn’t, with Laundys help and a few others.
They were going to muster something similar for Bellamy so can’t see why not

Thats probably spot on regarding his market value.

Top tier fullbacks - Tedesco, Paps, Lattrell and Turbo - these guys would probably demand a million+ because of the impact they all have on the game.
Better than Average - Gutho, Holmes, RTS and Brimson - around the 700-950k mark?

I honestly don't think Ponga is any better than the players mentioned above. He's maybe a better than average, but I don't think he impacts the game as much. Plus he is injury prone. However to your point because its Ponga, he will demand more because of the bums he puts on seats. Glad that's Knights problem, you can see the impact overpaying him has on the team - they have no depth in key positions.

100% agree. I would not pay more than 800k a season for Ponga.

As talented as Ponga is, he misses way too many games each year with various injuries. He's also not as consistent as other rep players who earn as much as him.

That said I don't think it's all his doing, but rather a lack of quality players around him to bring out his best.
