The only players Barrett brought were hetherington, flanno, Waddell, Cotric and Allen. The rest are left overs from Pay and co. He has literally had no say in the rest as they were all signed before he came in.

Yes, I am annoyed with our start, but he should be given a chance to fix the roster and not be thrown to the wolves after only 5 matches.
Cotric was signed before Baz.

So it's official. Morris is gone effective immediately, Fitzgibbon gets a three year deal from 2022 and Josh Hannay takes over for the rest of the year in the interim.. Cronulla had a solid start to the season and are playing good footy and this will totally derail their season...

They have a tonne of good players off contract so hopefully we can use this to our advantage and try and poach players like Rudolph, Talakai, Hamlin-Uele and Will Kennedy who would all be pissed off that they shafted Morris who gave all of those guys their opportunity..

Fitzgibbon is unproven.

Seems he has friends in high places. Just like Barrett.
Unproven? He's been head coach of the country side and part of Freddie's SOO coaching staff for years, hardly unproven.

That said, he's a specialist defensive coach which is why he's getting Ceraldo as his assistance. They could prove a really good coaching team.

He is unproven. Because he hasn't proven himself as a head coach. Because he hasn't coached as a headcoach. Therefore unproven.

Wasn't Dymock part of rep side coaching for years? Does that make him a proven head coach?

TBF to Jimmy - he was head coach for 8 games with the Dogs, and won 5. I would probably discount one of the losses as well, as Kevin Moore was sacked virtually as the team was boarding a flight to NZ for a game. So 5/7 is more games than what Fitzy has won as a FG coach.

Then we shafted him for Des, believing he would deliver us a Premiership.

Good one, Greenberg.

And Dean Pay had coached the under 20s NSW team to a three peat. Rep coaching means nothing when you’ve the best players to pick from.
Coaching is all about improving the entire squad and finding a role for each player that he us capable of carrying out. I have done plenty of coaching not only in Rugby League but Cricket also.

A team is only as strong as it's weakest player. Look at the Storm and what Bellamy has done for his squad. In past eras Jack Gibson took low talent teams like Newtown in 1973 to the semi finals.

He also took the took the last team that did not win a game in the entire season (the 1966 Roosters) to the top 4 in 1967.

A club cannot buy 30 top shelf 1st graders and fit them into a cap. There has to be some that are developed to 1st grade level while getting paid minimal money. And it takes time. In my eyes this is what Trent Barrett is trying to achieve. He need 2 years AT LEAST to get things sorted. Some but not all of the deadwood will be gone in 6 months.

Said it before worst decision ever Des(a manly poof through and through)getting a gig and jimmy well idk IF he even is head coach material or how he would have faired but the great man really should have been given a go.

As for the Morris shafting meh.. shit happens, i just highlighted a far bigger fuck up(maybe 2)at our own club this one doesn't rate by comparison imo.
As mentioned a few players of theirs would be great if their unhappy we need them on board here and STAT.

Well said. He has given a number of indications that this is exactly what he is about, and perhaps even more so. He is trying to build not just a team but a system of team development that keeps us strong on an ongoing basis. Hence the emphasis on culture.

Can’t blame Fitzgibbon, not his fault.

How the club handled the situation is extremely poor form.

While it is a business that they are doing what they feel is best for the club, how it played out is disgusting. Morris deserved better

A top team will pick him up as an assistant coach. I think he's done a terrific job at the Sharks over the last 2 years given the circumstances. It wouldn't even be a bad idea for the Roosters to swap him with Fitzgibbon.
Would not be surprised to see John land at the Roosters. The more Morris's the better. :grinning:

I would bring him in as an assistant coach and another role as well, he would be an asset to the club also bring some players with him!
He probably wouldnt stay long, would find a job really soon. Probably not the best thing for the club
