No recollection hey

Kevin Rudd has revealed he was “blindsided” and “deeply disturbed” to learn that paedophile Jeffrey Epstein donated $650,000 to the international think-tank that he has been a member of for six years.
The former prime minister said on Thursday night he has “no recollection whatsoever” of ever meeting the convicted sex offender who was found dead in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.

The revelations have only come to light now after Norwegian journalists probed financial links between Epstein and veteran diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen – who is President of the Peace Institute and a personal friend of Mr Rudd.

In an 891-word statement obtained by news.com.au, Mr Rudd revealed that he had first learned of the links last year. He joined the IPA board in 2014 and has been chairman since 2018.

“I first learned of contributions from Epstein’s foundations to the IPI in November 2019 through reporting by the Norwegian press. I was blindsided by this,” Mr Rudd said.

“On 14 October, again through the Norwegian press, the Board learned that there was a personal loan agreement between Epstein and Terje Rod-Larsen that existed in 2013.”

Mr Rudd said a search of his diary does appear to confirm he was on a teleconference with Epstein in 2014 and attended an event in New York that the financier also attended the year before.

“Any significant engagement with someone as odious as Epstein must be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly,’’ Mr Rudd said.

“I have no recollection whatsoever of ever meeting Epstein. I have checked records around a function I attended in New York in late September 2013, when I was still a Member of Parliament, held in honour of the then President of Mongolia. It was a large function at the time of the UN General Assembly attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, visiting foreign ministers and prominent New Yorkers. The guest list also included: former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak; New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg; Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov; Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Al-Thani.”

At the time, Mr Epstein was already a convicted sex offender but continued to move in wealthy New York circles.

In 2005, police began investigating the financier after a parent complained he had sexually abused a 14 year old child.

He subsequently pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2008 by a Florida court of procuring an underage girl for prostitution and served 13 months in custody.

The conviction was part of a controversial plea deal, which did not involve prosecuting him over 36 girls that officials had identified as potential victims.

Despite this, he continued to have contact with Prince Andrew, the two men photographed in central park in 2010, after his release from prison.

Mr Epstein was known for cultivating networks with the rich and famous and even invited some friends to visit his island on a private jet known as the “Lolita Express.”

Mr Rudd described the reports as “deeply disturbing” and revealed he planned to donate the money provided by Epstein to charities supporting victims of human trafficking and sexual assault. Mr Rudd is not paid for his role as chairman of the board.

The Norwegian report reveals that Mr Rød-Larsen authorised a payment of $US100,000 ($140,000) to Epstein for work relating to the Mongolian Advisory Board.

“I had dinner with Kevin yesterday evening, and he said we could keep his share,” the email said.

“For form’s sake we should send it to Jeff, however I am sure we will get it back many fold!” the email said.

Mr Rudd said his own advice was that Epstein did not receive remuneration for their work on the advisory board.

“Neither the loan, nor its repayment, had been previously disclosed to the Board or to me as Chair,” he said.

“As a consequence of this latest development, I took action last week to convene an extraordinary Board meeting and requested that Mr Rod-Larsen provide a report to the Board on all these matters.

“I will be recommending to the Board that an immediate and comprehensive probity review be conducted into the matters raised. Mr Rod-Larsen has apologised to the board for what he has described as his grave error of judgment.”

Journalists from the Norwegian paper told The Daily Telegraph that they had been trying to get a response from Mr Rudd for more than a year.

I was going to share this last night but at the time I could only find the Daily Telegraph article and it was behind a Paywall.

Have to say, I laughed pretty hard.

Here's the SMH report on the subject.

London: Kevin Rudd says he was "blindsided" to learn that the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein donated $650,000 to the International Peace Institute - a think tank that he has chaired for six years.
The former prime minister was forced to declare that he had been on a teleconference call also attended by Epstein in 2014 and attended an event while an MP in 2013 in New York where Epstein was also invited but has "no recollection whatsoever" of ever meeting the deceased financier.
Kevin Rudd said he first heard about Epstein's connections through media reports in 2019.

Epstein was already a convicted paedophile who had served time in jail when the financier started donating to the institute. He was found dead in his jail cell in August 2019 after he was arrested on sex-trafficking charges. Epstein's connections with the global elite have been closely examined – not least his years-long friendship with Prince Andrew.
His other famous connections included former US president Bill Clinton, current US President Donald Trump and Norwegian diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen, who is friends with Rudd.

Rudd said he was "blindsided" by the revelations, which only emerged after Norwegian media uncovered financial links between Epstein and Rød-Larsen, who is president of the Peace Institute.
Rudd described the reports as "deeply disturbing".

Coronavirus: Germany and France impose new COVID-19 lockdowns

Former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has spoken out about revelations that a 'think tank' he Chairs received donations from convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Rød-Larsen and his diplomat wife Mona Juul are famous in the diplomatic world. A play – Oslo – was written about their then-secret role in helping bring about the Oslo Peace Accords.
According to internal IPI emails published in the Norwegian media outlet DN, Rød-Larsen authorised a $US100,000 payment ($140,000) to Epstein in 2016. It was also revealed that he had personally borrowed $US130,000 ($182,000) from Epstein in 2013.

Norway's Foreign Ministry, which stopping funding the UN-affiliated think tank IPI in 2018, has called on the board to clarify the matter "especially in terms of its own ethical regulations".
The IPI has provided little comment on the revelations until Rudd's statement was issued on Wednesday night (AEDT).
Rudd said he had introduced a character test for private donations and was recommending the think tank conduct a probity investigation as well as an independent review into any financial transactions between Epstein and IPI.
The former prime minister said he has ordered Rød-Larsen provide a report to the board and had arranged for the think tank to donate the money bestowed by Epstein's foundations over the years to programs supporting victims of human trafficking and sexual assault.

"I first learned of contributions from Epstein’s foundations to the IPI in November 2019 through reporting by the Norwegian press. I was blindsided by this," Rudd said in his statement.
"Mr Rød-Larsen has apologised to the Board for what he has described as his grave error of judgment. I am deeply disappointed that the Board has had to learn about so much of this through the media."

DN's reporting showed that Rød-Larsen had authorised a payment of $US100,000 ($140,000) to Epstein for work relating to the Mongolian Advisory Board.

Who was Jeffrey Epstein?

The board was aimed at helping Mongolia implement democratic systems.
Rudd said the Mongolian President asked him to join the board which was being facilitated by the IPI.
At this time, 2013, Rudd was still a member of the Australian Parliament and would join IPI's board the following year.
He took part in an event that year that was also attended by the then UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and Henry Kissinger and John Kerry as well as Rød-Larsen.
He said he attended a teleconference call in 2014.

"IPI staff have advised me subsequently that Epstein was apparently among the 10 participants of the teleconference," he said.

He said he turned down payment in 2016 when it was offered because he had not done anything for the Mongolian Advisory Board since that 2014 conference call.
According to the email reported by DN, Rød-Larsen instructed staff to divert the funds earmarked for Rudd to Epstein.
"I had dinner with Kevin yesterday evening, and he said we could keep his share," the email said.

"For form's sake we should send it to Jeff, however I am sure we will get it back many fold!" the email said.
Rudd said he had been advised that Epstein did not receive remuneration for their work on the advisory board.
"The board will make a further statement on these matters once it has met on these matters."

Murdoch is stretching it a bit to implement Rudd in Rød-Larsen's activities. If he thinks he can find Rudd guilty by association, then he's just sealed Gladys' fate for her involvements with Maguire's dealings.

Yep. Definite stretch. Still found it funny though.

They had another article where a guy went on Rudd's petition and signed it 1,000 times in a short period of time, suggesting the petition numbers may be inaccurate

Another reason why there is such little faith but a lot of skepticism at global elites who jet around the world taking money from all sorts of places.

Epstein is scum, and there are likely many more just like him (perhaps not with their own pedo islands), but scum nonetheless.

This has everything to do with Rudd launching a petition to have a royal commission into news corpse.

Exactly, they think by loosely connecting Rudd to Epstein it will tarnish Rudd and therefore hinder the petition. Thing is, this is why we need the petition to have a royal commission into news media. Murdoch using dirty tactics, showing bias and corrupt media reporting within his agency. Mainstream media is the pits!!

Rudd was a board member and subsequently the chair of this charity. Epstein donated $650k between 2011-2019.

epstein was convicted of kiddy fiddling in 2009.

So the charity was receiving funds from a convicted pedo for years. Not just a no name pedo either but a very well known one.

The management of the charity were clearly asleep at the wheel or knew who epstein was and took his cash anyway.

As for Rudd, when you are a director and chair of a company you have certain obligations to make yourself aware of things.

So this raises questions about Rudd and how he conducts his roles on boards.

High ideals that should be expected of ALL office holders....even Donald Trump.

Being a director on a company comes with a different set of obligations to being the president of a country.

Just because both are figureheads with authority, does not mean you can equate the two.

Having said that, what ideals are you talking about in relation to Trump.

The ones you mentioned about being aware of whats going on within the organisation you head up :grinning:

Surely its even more necessary for a leader who has the fortunes, and health outcomes, life and death, of 320 million people to be across all issues that affect the populace?

Please expect the same ideals, and standards of behaviour, in current politicians as you do in company directors.

in 2002 trump said he knew epstein for 15 years, that he was a terrific guy and he likes women on the younger side

so dont worry about the rudd, this raises questions about trump, for example how does trump know that he likes women on the younger side?

how does trump know him for 15 years and know that he likes younger women but not know that he was a pedophile?

did epstein only have 18-19 year olds in trumps presence?, if so why did epstein only have 18-19 olds around trump and 15 years old normally

it must be something remarkable for it to be the number 1 talking point for trump, trumps daughter when she was 17 made him promise not to date anybody younger than her so we are talking about that type of guy thinking someone else likes younger women

my theory is he knows about epstein banging underage girls and thinks it is terrific because he also would bang them

The only part of your post that matters is this (2002). Epstein was a known sex offender from ~2008. The charity which Rudd was a director of took money from Epstein after Epstein was convicted.

On the topic of Trump. Trump is one of hundreds of wealthy elites who knew and socialised with Epstein. Trump banned Epstein from his gold club a few months before he had even been convicted:

Trump also did NOT ride on Epsteins private jet, which Bill Clinton seems to have done on up to 20-30 individual trips.

Trump is no saint - he's clearly a ladies man, but attempting to conflate being a ladies man with being supportive of pedos is far from the truth.

More lies about Trump?

"Trump’s Creepy Comment When She Was 15

According to a scene in Michael Cohen's book, which Samantha also described for Vanity Fair, Trump, now 74, leered at her in front of her father back in 2012, when she was 15 years old.

Cohen writes in Disloyal that he and Trump were at Trump's golf course in New Jersey when Samantha walked up to them from the tennis court.

Trump pointed and whistled, according to Cohen: “Look at that piece of a--. I would love some of that.”

Cohen was questioned about the incident during his appearance Monday on The View, where he admitted he knew the comment "was wrong" and said he didn't condemn Trump or "smack him across the side of the head" because feels now he was under "Stockholm Syndrome" with his boss.

“As a father, I never should’ve allowed it," Cohen said, adding, “Under any other circumstance, I never would’ve allowed anybody to speak about her that way, but I was part of the cult. I was a big part of the cult and there really was no wrong that he can do even though I knew it was wrong.”

Samantha also talked about that moment with Vanity Fair.

“There are so many creepy men, and it was hardly the first comment like that I’d heard. It was almost meaningless to me at the moment because I’d heard them before,” she said. “If you can hit on a 15-year-old, I am pretty sure there is something wrong with you, and when you allow someone with that little integrity to be in the most powerful office, that sets the tone for the rest of the country’s culture.”

epstein was a sex offender for many years before 2008, trump knew him since the 1980's and he said that he likes women on the younger side

the only way trump would say that he likes women on the younger side is if he knew epstein liked women on the younger side

trump is a guy who looks at 9-10 years olds and he talks out loud about dating them in the future

If you are going to put allegations against Trump, there are better ones than this which is clearly made up by Michael Cohen after he got sacked by Trump. It speaks volumes about Cohen that he brought his daughter in to lie on his behalf with this story as well.

I'm not defending Trump as a chauvinist / ladies man / egotistical asshole.

Not doubt he is all of the things you allege.

But I know people who are all of these things - and they are (despite these things) good people, good fathers, good sons, good at their jobs etc.

So you believe father and daughter are lying. Why? Because you don't believe Trump would say that about a 15 year old?

Or those 15 year old girls naked in changerooms at his beauty pageants that he used to walk in on. All those witnesses are lying as well about Trump also being a pedo perv at least?
