From all I've heard of his coaching style. He typically just simplifies the roles of players. Do this simple job while the player beside you does theirs and everything just works.
But I think that Bennett has hardly ever had a roster that wasn't stacked in the right places. Even during his premiership at St Merge he had a pretty good pack and backline. Soward was basically a good general play kicker and Bennett based their entire game around a very boring style with last tackle kicks leading to a lot of scoring opportunities.
The only role he took up without a strong roster was with Newcastle and he ran from that role before his reputation suffered.
