You'd have to think that even his own opinion of himself would be on the wane? ;)

I always thought he showed enough early on to potentially be an NRL halfback, but apparently he's a massive cunt and this has held him back.

Wasn’t he a fullback coming through? Wouldn’t be a bad pick up as can cover halves and the backs. Might be another jack of all trades master of none type like mayby.

Biggest issue is his off field antics and if it’s worth the risk. On the positive side he will be the youngest half in our squad which is what we need. And has the speed to be an offensive threat from our own half. Wouldn’t mind him on the cheap, on a short term deal. Too much was expected from him and when you put him up against other halves his age he is about on par with them.

Yeh exactly my thoughts too. For his age he is solid. And he can grow out of his off field antics with some maturity. But he needs the right playing group to accomplish that and roosters weren’t that team.

300k I would take him. Anything more and the risk outweighs the benefit.

Main thing is, if Deano can get the best out of him then why not. He's got a heap of ability.

New Bulldogs coach Dean Pay coached the fiery Hastings in the NSW under-20 team in 2015 and has a high opinion of the youngster.

Sign him up :) But when was the last time the mole got anything right?

The Mole: Canterbury Bulldogs eyeing Manly youngster Jackson Hastings

The halfback musical chairs game in the NRL is set to continue with the Bulldogs considering signing Manly playmaker Jackson Hastings.
With Cooper Cronk joining the Roosters and Mitchell Pearce likely to go Manly, Hastings could be out in the cold at Brookvale.
New Bulldogs coach Dean Pay coached the fiery Hastings in the NSW under-20 team in 2015 and has a high opinion of the youngster.
Hastings - the son of Roosters legend Kevin ‘Horrie’ Hastings - joined the Sea Eagles this year from the Roosters.
With Daly Cherry Evans and Blake Green capably filling the two halves spots, Hastings only played nine games last season, mainly from the bench, where he gave the Manly attack plenty of impetus.
Hastings is under contract to the Sea Eagles for 2018 but the club would not stand in his way for a release, especially if Pearce comes on board.
The Bulldogs have signed star playmaker Kieran Foran for next season but have lost fan favourite Josh Reynolds to the Tigers.
Signing Hastings would give the Bulldogs more depth in the halves for the long campaign ahead.

Hastings was one of the first to congratulate Dean on Twitter after announcement. He said one of the best coaches he has played under.

Hastings is not first grade standard. Sure he can kick goals but he’s not a playmaker. Far from it. The Dogs would only be offering him a basic wage as they’d be just about on the cap.
