The whole thing us completely unethical, and quite frankly, should be investigated by the NRL.
Tigers are allowing themselves to be bullied around by Panthers. They NEED to dig their heels in, or take legal action against Panthers, if there are "No Compete Clauses", allowing Cleary to only be in talks with Tigers until final contract year.
They should hit Panthers with an ultimatum: You can have Ivan Cleary straight away, but we want Nathan until the end of 2020.
If Panthers don't agree to that, then it's simple. Tigers employ Michael Maguire, and give Cleary the job cleaning the shitters at Leichardt until 2021 when his Panthers contract kicks in.
Gould is going to create one almighty clusterfuck at the Panthers. This is ALL about him and his ego. He knows he's overpromised and this "5 year plan" for a premiership is about 7 years in now. He knows that sooner or later the members will get fed up and put forth a motion to have Gould removed from the club. That's the only reason he's pulling all this shit at the moment. He's panicking and trying to save his own arse. Nothing more, nothing less.
