china is almost at the stage where they can use economic coercion just like the USA does currently to get its way and has started dipping its toes with the sanctions // taxes on Aussie goods.

china wont need military might - they have sucked the world in to rely on them from raw materials which they control to essential components in manufacturing process to everything that is being made , they just have to quietly kept building their arms and once they started flexing economic sanctions no one can do shit and we can see howhesitant the world is right now with what they did to Hk and those man made islands to take control of the sea.

the rhetoric at the beginning of the pandemic when we saw supply be restricted was correct for us to bring everything back - but that talk has since died ( whilst he didn’t put it in action trump also had right idea about this ).

If China does pull the trigger it'll be in the next few years. The fact that Russia could annex Crimea and China has militarised the South East China Sea without any kind of retribution speaks volumes for the west's appetite for war.
If China and Russia simultaneously hit Taiwan and Ukraine the West wouldn't know what to do.
Hope it doesn't happen, but it does sort of feel inevitable.

The test will be when China invades Taiwan. China buys a lot of natural gas and oil from Russia,China is the biggest supplier of imports to Russia. Their economic ties will likely be enough to keep them "in check". But if the USA intercedes when China invades Taiwan,the yanks will feel the wrath of the Chinese military might.

It's a little publicized fact that the US historically haven't gotten involved until very late in major wars. If they're able to throw superior weaponry and excessive manpower at a weaker opponent, they're quite brave. But when it comes to facing a level playing field, they've got to be directly provoked if history is any indication. Not that it's evident in movies.

China have postured over Taiwan for decades already and probably will continue to do so for decades to come. They dont want to start WW3. China has never ruled Taiwan, so it would be an invasion, not a reclamation, and im pretty sure the world wont tolerate it. They know it. Taiwan is also very heavily defended according to my Taiwanese mate who did service there, and easy to defend to start with due to being an island. China might eventually overthrow them by shear numbers, but the cost to China would be massive. They also know that.
