quick question, if you could somehow choose to live now or 200 years ago in 1821, which would you prefer?

you dont have to pick australia you can live somewhere else in the world, but the point is you have pretty much none of the current luxuries that people take for granted

for example in 1821 if you wanted to watch some porn you actually need to sneak up to a window and watch people have sex, thats putting yourself in all sorts of danger of being caught etc

Im happy with today,
But, if i did have an option, i wish i was born in the late 40s early 50s.
Id be in my 70s now.
The end would be near and I would by and large avoid the horrors that we are heading towards in the next 20 years.

I grew up around the cooks river but even I wouldn’t be that cooked to sip the cooks river you would be cooked for 20 years.

You've jumped straight to one of my largest points of conjecture by recognising that porn wasn't freely available back then. To be honest, even 20 years ago porn wasn't as freely available. It actually makes me wonder where the next stages of technology will take us in regards to porn.

While there are some things that would be good about 1821, such as being able to go fishing when there were plenty of fish to be caught, the big downside would be that there could be a huge disparity in circumstances. If you were born into a really poor family it'd be very hard to ever get anywhere in life. I've seen photos of the staff of the local newspaper from where I live from 100 or so years ago. The manager was dressed very well while his employees were dressed in pretty shabby clothes and couldn't even afford shoes. I like to go barefoot around the house, but I'll be buggered if I'd want that to be something I had no choice in.

So anyway. Since Porn crept into this thread in post one. Where do people see the evolution of it going?

star trek hologram technology with real sensations is the end goal, but then that would be the end of civilisation because nobody would want to do anything else

its unrealistic in star trek how everyone is not in there 24 hours a day and that they would rather do some duty for no money

I reckon it’s fucked... Boom Tish...

But I’ll admit it has warped how people view sex these days because . I don’t know and I’m not that concerned but I can see how it’s warping younger peoples view of what healthy fun sex is. I’m not playing down anyone’s kinks. Go for it. I’ve had some fun because I’ve emulated shit I’ve seen with girlfriends from XNXX and I’ll let the next generation work it out for themselves but I could never accidentally type Wiggles songs from a phone my mum gave me when I was a toddler because I was having a tantrum and watching YouTube on a phone calmed me down but because I’m a toddler mash the keypad and actually type Wiggles Porn and then get the top video of a porn parity of Emma Wiggle getting gang banged by Jeff and his big red car. It’s a bit scary as I don’t have a kid yet but fuck I know what I was like as a kid finding my dads porns hidden (really badly in the back shed) but that was like Pamela Anderson’s tits. This new generation of kids can see a lot more disturbing shit for their age at a touch of a button. Which is very very disturbing.

I think this was explored partially in the Red Dwarf episode better than life. It was basically a simulation where you could follow your dreams in a virtual reality system that was so convincing that people would die while playing because it was too intense to exit for food etc.

I think the downside of those star trek holo rooms would be that they'd be as nasty as a porn booth at a sex shop. You'd have to overcome the revulsion just to go in there.

I dare say that the process would be to get us hooked on their favours then withold those favours until we surrendered to their demands.

That is a pretty scary thought. Seen a documentary about kids with porn addictions. I recall that a 12 year old was finding ways to access porn that'd really warp them on any device they could access in their home. So it's a real problem. But even when I was a pre teen kids would often find a parents dirty mags and bring them to school. But I guess nowadays thats far outweighed by the idea that hardcore fetish type of things might be readily available if parents aren't vigilant and tech savvy enough to put age restrictions on phines or PC's.
