Is this country fucked or great and why?
I think it has potential to be awesome but is weighed down with negative fuckheads.

The nature of humans means that the world is ultimately shit.

Ultimately I think that world leaders get there because they're greedy manipulative assholes for the most part. And even if some with good intentions get through the gauntlet, they're going to struggle to make positive changes. The media these days is easily bought and if big business sees an honest politician as a threat, they can twist any deed to make them look bad.

So we are up against grumpy greedy power tripping human nature?

Definitely been going to shit since 1990. Before this time there was never any terrorism threats living in Australia.

Australia is a good country to live but it's no longer the lucky country.

Ridiculous housing prices, massive over taxation and PC bullshit are big problems.

The problem with leaving the country is that you cant go watch Dogs games live

Jose Mujica. The last true President of any country. A man who truly took the reigns purely for the good of his people.

As I have stated from time to time that I was in the media and in that capacity I have travelled extensively and I can tell you though Australia is far from perfect it defiantly is not shit!
In general, we Australians aren’t obsessed or deluded about being “great” and we are not particularly racist.
We tend not to care where someone is from, what religion, colour, politics or sex they are just as long as they’re not an asshole about it!

We're not perfect but for the most part, Australia is a politically, economically and socially stable nation that looks upon the rest of the world with a beer in one hand a BBQ prawn in the other, shake our heads and say, “What a bunch of dumb cu-ts!”

I have been living as a digital nomad now since 2018. Since then i have signed 2 6 month leases in total, 1 during covid when i was in australia and one in Bali. i have travelled all through asia, parts of north and south america, Europe - spain, uk, and portugal and am about to return back to Australia to live fulltime in the next several months. I will say that Australia is the best country in the world. Sure the cost of living has gone through the roof but its happening all over the world. In my experience in comparison to average wage growth/government assistance, health etc Australia as definately ahead. Most of the countries i have been in the average standard wage wouldnt even cover rent. i simply don't understand how people are living there. One area that i beleive Australia does fall behind in though is how selfish and entitled we have become, too many people believing they are the centre of the universe and only thinking about themselves and what they can get. (i have always travelled back to Australia during the last 7 or so years to see my son for school holidays or he has flown to wherever i was in the world and i keep my eye on the news). I am looking forward to finishing travelling and buying a house again and settling. Maybe for a few of you who like to complain how hard it is i might suggest travelling to some other countries and see what actually tough looks like.

In your experience though - is the self entitlement Australian or universal?

in my experience self entitlement is higher in western/wealthy countries. it seems the more people have the more they want. as a whole it seems the the countries which have a greater focus on being part of a community + strong religous ties (i don't believe in religion but its become obvious to me the beneficial impact its had on communities) working together as a group/family unit instead of just focusing on myself and what i want definately has long term emotional benefits. i am not sure why on average why poorer countries seem happier, other then the variables i have mentioned above.

That seems very rational. Me - social media. Fits your socio-economic observations and 'conditions' beliefs that are more, maybe self-centric.

Not the be all but think its a major contributor.

Australia is amazing. If you think its not go travel the world and see how lucky we trully are.

Fuck you don't even have to travel just chat to many of the immigrants that have come from other countries and listen to their stories. Then you will see how lucky we trully are.

Im an uneducated fuckhead did terrible in school made dumb desicions whem Inwas young. yet I was able to buy a house before I was 30 have 4 children earn good money. Only mistake was getting married that shit financially ruined me and set my retirement plan back 20 years.
