Hopefully the club is smart enough to front load contracts. Players like dwz Jackson Napa should be front loaded. Id say these 3 are on the biggest contracts at our club. As chn and Okunbor don't need to be replaced.

Another idea might be to try and get Luke Thompson over a season early as there comp doesn't look like resuming anytime soon. Or maybe try and sign Jordan Rapana.
I like that idea. I'm sure Luke would love it. Get paid. Maybe they should be making enquiries now to see if things can be setup so he does quarantine etc. Find him a nice hotel room somewhere that has access to a gym that can only be used by him.

Good thinking get him a presidential suite with a nice view. I know his supposed to be isolating but maybe bend the rules a little and organise a couple of high class escorts for the 14 days for him. No need for the gym that way. After all you don't him to get homesick after 2 weeks.

Basically if say Jackson is on a 3 year deal that's worth 600k a season and 1.8m in total. The rules allow you to front load his contract. If say we have a spare 400k left in our cap for this year then we could give this left over cap money to Jackson this year. So of the 1.8m of his contract he gets 1m of it this year. It leaves us owing him 800k for the final 2 years of his contract. So next year we could only give him 200k if we want to and 600k the year after. Or split it 400k then 400k.

Benefits for us is instead of having a 9.8m cap for next year we will have a 10.2m cap. Because we front loaded contracts the year before.
I’m having trouble understanding how that works. Current players obviously already have existing contracts, do we cancel those contracts already registered with the NRL? Then register new contracts for those same players with higher payments this year and lower payments in future years? ie; the same total contract value.

Would the NRL really allow that? Somehow I don’t think so.

They all should get all the surgeries they need during this downtime..

Hopefully Pay does some surgery on his attacking game plan during this time..

Cash, what we pay him, is irrelevant. The Cap only cares about what is in the players contract. So back to my question, we would have to deregister his current contract with that NRL, what‘s our excuse for doing that? Then register a new contract with the new amounts, what‘s our excuse for doing that? Oh, we want to move $400k from next year into this year so we can cheat the cap next year (ie; equivalent $10.2m). Do you seriously think the NRL will allow that? Somehow I think not.

Absolute shambles that DWZ and Napa are our highest earners lol.
I know that suites your agenda, but it’s factually incorrect. For a starter Jackson, with the long term player allowance, is higher. As is Tolman with his back ended contract. Plus Foran of course (how could you forget that) and Hopoate is possibly another on a back ended contract.

Great. He was overweight enough when he was "fit" after a full offseason. Imagine how out of shape and unfit he'll be after this?

Great we bought another dud every time we get a player he’s always gets injured early or really was he already injured at Melbourne and knew he would have problems in the future and released the dud .

Fuck we are a mess....
Before a ball is kicked we extended Lewis and Smith (who got injured and can't play).
We sign Katoa and don't play him...
CHN is gone because we either didn't fight for him or we are being lied to. Now our only other 'recruit' is under an injury cloud.

We better start spending our money wisely because if the season resumes soon I think we are in trouble... One would hope we use a few young kids instead of Sue and a few others, my guess is RFM may fill the edge.
Probably going to cop a beating here but the two games before Sue did his injury I thought he was carving up. Zero predictor on post injury form though. Agree on the overall message though. We are a 14th to 16th squad and always will be and now with these decisions its worse

Sue was average at best. 5/10. But. The best thing and one of the standout moments of the year from anyone was that hit on Klemmer. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Agree he was solid, has good leg speed and aggression. But he's not the 'future' so to speak so I'd rather us just go the other way from next season.

Yeah as i said it was a 2 to 3 game max period he was dominating but after the injury he is a bench warmer at best
