Tevita Pangai Junior's return timeline has been reset to 'indefinite' by the Canterbury Bulldogs.

He will be joined on the sideline by Fa'amanu Brown, who suffered an elbow injury last weekend against the Warriors.

Missing the start of the season with a calf strain, Pangai Junior's return was originally set down for around Round 4, but it was revealed last week that he was yet to return to running.

Despite that, the Bulldogs at the time, still had his return set for Round 5 in official club communications.

In a new communication released on Tuesday, his return date has been set to 'indefinite' thanks to the calf strain. The club stated he was being monitored.

"Tevita Pangai Junior suffered a calf strain during a field training session," the club wrote.

"His progression continues to be monitored by Club medical staff."

That means the mystery injury rules the star forward out of at least the first five weeks of the season, with the Bulldogs playing through a lack of forward depth.

They have won two out of their first four, but suffered a disappointing loss to the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland last Sunday, and now prepare for an exceptionally difficult period ahead, with the North Queensland Cowboys, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Parramatta Eels and Cronulla Sharks their next four opponents.

Also added to the Bulldogs' casualty ward is Fa'amanu Brown.

He failed to complete the game against the Warriors after playing from the bench, and the club have now confirmed he has dislocated his elbow.

"Fa'amanu Brown suffered a left elbow injury during the Round 5 match against the New Zealand Warriors," the club wrote.

"His elbow was relocated in hospital and he has now returned to Sydney where he will require scans and a specialist review. Management for his elbow will be guided by specialist advice."

His return date, like that of Pangai Junior, is indefinite.

Been defending Thommo for ages but him and TPJ need to be released. 2 more Foran nightmares, minimal games...always injured! Probably 1.5+ mil per year that never play.
34 or 38 games or what ever he has done in 3.5 years is insane :screamcat: to also think that a big chunk of those were probably missed to suspension is inexcusable.

Guy will go down as one of our worst purchases. Pangai was the talk of the town in the preseason. His boxing his fitness his bond with ciro. All the talk was how he is set for a big year and a possible origin jersey. Guy hasn’t been sighted this year at all and probably won’t be back any time soon if you read between the lines.

Sad to think with both boys we’d possibly be 3 wins 1 loss. But the 1.6m+ will be sitting on the sidelines for an extended period yet again. Quicker they gone and money spent elsewhere the better it will be for our success.

No way a calf strain takes this long to heal. It’s either a tear or the club is full of shit. He might be over the weight that he vowed to stay under and doing sfa to lose it (tongue in cheek)

Weird interaction with nrl physio after he just said what gus and the club came out with
TPJ is a fucking dud... When has NRL physio ever chatted any shit about a player ever. Fuck the salty **** TPJ, transparency by him solves everything... instead he chooses to sulk.

If Reynolds really loves the club he'll give up his top 30 position to allow us to buy another prop.

It's worrying that we will play with one recognized prop for almost half the season.

I'd like TPJ to display some 'Moses Suli' type honesty..."I didn't want to join the club, but my manager said I had to."

Let's face it, he's displayed little but contempt for our club, the fans and probably his team-mates since he's arrived.

I said it from day one and especially after I saw him jumping and bouncing around in the sheds after the Melb storm win
A calf tear wouldn’t allow the movements and jumping excessively he was doing

also why is it he’s been to every game even the one overseas last round in nzld

it either is a substance issue or internal discipline issue which is bs because all its doing is punishing the die hard fans and his fellow team mates

either sack him due to any above issue or fine him significantly

he’s not fc u ck ing injured
Most of us have played footy etc and a calf tear at the high end is 6 weeks ffs

It’s about getting his calf 100% fincieeeee!! Why rush him back when he’s not 100% than risking him getting injured for another 10 weeks? Let it heal. I know we need him but for the long run it’s better for us so he can be fully fit and at his best. You know what I mean BRUUUUUUU LMAO
