Canterbury will go into the new season fielding the most inexperienced side with a 52-game per player average, while their average age has plummeted to 22.8 following the exits of the several key players.

Dean Pay has recruited for the club's future with Jack Cogger, Nick Meaney and Corey Harawira-Naera replacing the likes of David Klemmer, Moses Mbye and the Morris brothers.

Jacko, Foran, Hoppa and Tolman take up the majority of games played too without them it’s a very inexperienced squad. Getting off to a good start is vital or the confidence will drop.

Yeah well you only have to look at Parramatta to see that there isn't a direct correlation...

Can't it be both?

It's great that we have the youngest squad. That's the best way to rebuild after the state Des left the squad and cap situation in.

We will do just fine, would rather have a team of goers than a team there just for the money

Just wondering. Can anybody on TK do a bit of research and find out if there is an average age of NRL squads that have one the spoon in the last lets say 10 years.?Would be interesting.

22 years old is old enough, young men fight in wars at that age. Besides, many teams are carrying older players that should just retire so the young guys can come through.

Realistically we probably don't have much of a shot at the title until 2021... By then we would have a more balanced side. But then again anything can happen.

3-1 is realistic

If the team can gel and be kept together we could have a good squad in a few years and also open ourselves a decent premiership window. But there's alot of ifs in that.

We've been screwed with cap issues and signing the wrong players in the last 2 or 3 years so it is what it is now and we'll just have to see how things go.

I think we will win all the close ones we lost last year.. I also think if they play what in front of them, as reported, we will give a few sides an absolute hiding this year.. They won’t go 17 straight but we will be in the finals and give the company a massive shake up..

Yep. We might also have more stamina in the final 20 minutes of a game -often that's where a game is won.
