True? I must have him confused with the Galloping Gourmet, Grahame Kerr, who was around at the same time, and is long gone.Whoooaaaa he ain't dead yet
In early Sydney, swimming nude was accepted as long as it was done early morning or late evening. Witness this painting of Tamarama Beach, by Julian Ashton . By the time of Queen Victoria, things had changed and swimming fully clad was still considered risque - hence the bathing machines, which ensured that ladies were safe from prying eyes. They were not designed to keep out ocean nasties, but to protect ladies from men.View attachment 32326

Truly magnificent. How many people know that Wynyard station had a magnificent Railway Refreshment Room, up until the mid 1950s.
It was where the lifts and escalators to Wynyard Park are now located.
The grand entrance, complete with grand piano, is just stunning. It was used as a storeroom before being gutted for the escalators.View attachment 32355View attachment 32356View attachment 32357
Used to go there every Sunday evening for dinner with my then girlfriend, before I drove home to Thirroul. There was a guy who played a Hammond organ for background music. The food was good for the time.DJ's Food Hall Bankstown Square:
I saw it when it was used as a storeroom by their technical drawing people. The elaborate detail was still there, though painted over. It was accessed by a dual stairway opposite the McDonalds outlet near the entrance barriers. There was also a lift down to it from the old Menzies Hotel. Shame it was destroyed.Truly magnificent.
Definitely a publicity photo..The picture that proves why iconic photograph of workers eating their lunch on Rockefeller beam was all a publicity stunt
Archivists say 1932 snap ‘Lunch atop a Skyscraper’ was in fact a publicity stunt by the Rockefeller Center to promote the new skyscraper.www.dailymail.co.uk
I've done some scetchy shit in my day but fuck that I would turn to shit on thatHere's one many of people would be familiar with. During construction of the Empire State Building, workers would, on their lunch break, sit on a metal beam, and be elevated high above.
Imagine if something like that were to take place today.
You and me both lol.I've done some scetchy shit in my day but fuck that I would turn to shit on that
Yep, another Wahesh research special! Very credible that bloke, a master of all topicsDefinitely a publicity photo.
The Empire State Building is named for New York State, also known as "the Empire State".
The capitol of New York State is Albany, (pronounced All-bany).
New York city is in New York state, hence the title of the song "New York, New York", is the same as saying "Sydney, NSW"
They employed Mohawk Indians as riggers on the building, because Mohawk people have no fear of heights, for some reason.
My Mum used to take me there when i was a kid, many years ago.Used to go there every Sunday evening for dinner with my then girlfriend, before I drove home to Thirroul. There was a guy who played a Hammond organ for background music. The food was good for the time.
