The Silver City Comet, Central Railway Station - April, 1990
First air conditioned train in NSW. Poor drivers didn't have air conditioning in the cab, sitting up with the diesel engines. They used to open the front door on hot days. Normally operated between Parkes and Broken Hill, but later ran services between Dubbo and Orange.
I travelled on it from Dubbo in the 60s. Comfortable.

Preparing tickets, Cronulla Railway Station - December 15, 1939
Edmonson card tickets. These were universal. There was a machine that stamped the issue date on the ticket. They had to have tickets for every station in the suburban area and most of the interurban area. Also blanks that could be written on for stations that didn't have preprinted tickets.
Travel could only be done between the stations listed, or you would be fined by ticket inspectors (and they had more inspectors in the old days).

Not a new image in fact one from last week got the privilege of scoring tickets to a corporate box in the Trumper stand at the big bash Sydney Darby at the SCG last Saturday - Pictures on iPhones never do it justice but the sky was brilliant and seats even better
