Newcastle Knights get 23 points from 10 wins and a draw.
10 wins (20 points) and a draw (1 point) somehow get them 23 in stead of 21.

What's the deal?

Hold on I think I know what this means... round 1 of the ARL 96 season resulted in Super League teams forfeiting - that must have something to do with it?

All Superleague teams forfeited round 1 so their opponents got the 2 points.

We were meant to play the Cowboys in round 1 who were terrible so we would've finished on 24 if we didn't forfeit.

Also note that the Warriors pulled together a team from NZ clubs & were scheduled to play the Broncos. Because the Warriors were prepared to put a team on the field & the Broncos weren't, the Warriors were awarded the points despite also being a Super League club.

We had to forfeit rd 1 due to super league as did all the teams signed to super league Newcastle received 2 points due to a forfeit that’s why they points don’t match
