Now that we've had a full season of the reduced interchange game,

- what are your thoughts on how rugby league has changed as a game in past few years?

- what type of player is best suited to current NRL? - foward, halves, backs.

- what attributes are the most important? - size, strength, speed, stamina, endurance, focus, willpower, toughness etc

- is a primary gamplan enough for all opposition , or do you you need to tailor to different teams?

- has size become a new a limitation, can a player be too big to keep up with the pace of the game?

Taking these things into consideration, do we have a squad that is suited to current NRL?

Under Hasler we have lost the ability to think, so no use bringing in playmakers. I would say Height and Speed. Just fast players that can run down opposition line breaks, turn quick in defence and defuse attacking bombs.

Reduced interchange has made the dummy half the most crucial roll in the team.

Ennis -----> Cronulla
Hodgson -----> Raiders
Smith -------> Storm (was flat in 2015)

Souths had issues all year with their dummy half up until Cook cemented his spot in the final rounds.

Ability to read the game and control the game. Three players come to mind as examples Cameron smith, Thurston, Cronk. Other than that a full back that's fast and can ball play.

The traditional prop position will be extinct once the interchanges drop again.

I think the game is slowly changing towards a more attacking structure so guys like Cartwright MoYlan, Peachey Tedesco Moses etc will become more important, and a dummy half that can run the ball ie Luke, Hodgson, Ennis, Smith Cook etc

I'd look for that little bit of experience and good pace and strength. I think the fullback position has become more key.

Footballers 1st, athletes 2nd. The team is stacked with dumb players, hence the dumbed down gameplan.

You dont need to be the fastest or strongest when you know when and when not to pass.

Mobility is important for the forwards. Ability to create around the ruck. Play must vary set to set...keep doing the same things each set and get ready to be gang tackled. Forwards must be fit and muscular. Eastwood and Kasiano are a disgrace...they look like theyve just walked off the set of a kebab commercial. Accordingly they play slow and dont last long enough. Must also have a playmaker that is vocal and demands the ball. Ability to kick...long, short and high accurately is a must for at least 9, 6 and 7...and a bonus if 1 can as well. In the backs, height and speed and strength a distinct advantage. Cannot afford to carry injury prone, slow twins.
Ability to play on any day of the week. Football is a business. players have a useful life. Too many of our squad are nearing theres. So we need depth in the lower grades putting pressure on first grade. So good thorough recruitment division is a must.

1. Mental ability
2. Physical attributes
3. Natural ability

Mental ability is the base of the player, with good mental ability they can build up and deal with the pressures from the media and fans, IMO a player needs to be good physically, as the way the game is going the more athletic players are standing out, and then a player's natural ability as with a good physique and mentality a player and put there skills on show

mental ability as in an ultra competitive attitude (for a few players), confidence and poise

also some aggressive forwards would be cool

Someone who's got a dickhead attribute... Like Soward, Carney, karmikhael hunt, Ennis... Passionate, can change a game with a kick, not worried about how the media portrays them (hoping to get a contract with fox) and are smart players ON the football field.
