If you could pick a ‘Bulldogs’ goal kicker from any era to kick a winning goal - who would you choose?

Career strike rates:
  • EL Masri = 81.97%
  • Halligan = 79.31%
That's closer than i though, given El Masri was a generation later and all that comes with progress and technology.

For today's kickers, their strike rates would be adversely impacted by more tries in corners since the corner post was taken out of the game as a no no.

Nothing in it but El Magic simply bc he was a local junior and played his whole career with the CB Bulldogs, so got a bonus point from me :grinning:

Overall I would still pick Halligan, but any one of these 3 would be my choice. What about you guys, who would be your 3 and why, and overall who would you pick?

1. Daryl Halligan - hardly ever missed.
2. Hazem El Masri - hardly ever missed and was coached to kick from Halligan.
3. Ross Conlon - was reliable from anywhere on the field.

There is no doubt Ross Conklin could kick goals. He could kick goals with the leather balls from 60m out. His accuracy as a goal kicker wasn’t anywhere near the current NRL standards though. I think he would have only been a 60-70% max kicker.

Agree, imagine if he didn’t overlap Chook for as many games as he did. He would be the number one point scorer of all time no question.

For me a dead heat between Halligan and Hazem
Plus it depends on the added pressure if it was in a GF etc
I would back Baa to kick a FG when trailing by 2 points:tearsofjoy:

3. Luke Goodwin
2. Scott Wilson
1. Terry Lamb
Notable mentions: Chook & Hazem

Hazems goal from the sideline against the Knight on full time was special, but the pressure kicks in the miracle win against Parra was pressure kicking at its best.. Both Guns.

Remembered how Chook rushed the first one Baz? Slotted the next two like the champ he was.My mate was happy yet also rueing that missed kick and then Pollys field goal going under the crossbar, both misses meaning no normal time win for us so our decent bet on the Dogs to win in said period was confetti.
I'm going like maaate I cgaf about the bet we won the game from a nearly impossible position stuff the money!!

We were been blessed as fans of this club to have two of the all-time greats, Daryl Halligan & Hazem playing almost concurrently. Haz was lethal, but El magic was even better; just for who he is and what he represents is one of the greatest doggies players ever, not withstanding one-time leading points scorer grand final winning try scorer, etc Hazem
