IF we don't get Latrell Mitchell for the 2020 season can we jam Jayden Okunbor into centre?

I don’t want the cluts anywhere near fg
Deer in headlights 75% of the time
Hands like feet
No footwork
Can’t tackle
If he plays fg in 2020 we must be going really really bad

These threads make me depressed.... things were meant to pick up in 2021 not be the fucking same or worse
Whatever you do...DONT feel enthusiastic about the Dogs. Doesnt matter they are your team. Just look at the retirements and players lost to the NRL over the last few years and next couple.....Thurston, Inglis, Slater, Cronk, Cam Smith, Gallen, S Burgess, L Lewis, M Scott, Gillett, Maloney, Austin to name a few. So which big name players in particular do you expect?

We are on the rebuild. We have reached the bottom and are coming out of the worst of it now. In 3 years time the superstars may well be players blooded last year and next. Our Board are building us from the ground up. Theres not that many recognised stars available to poach and we are not the only ones looking....I for 1 am encouraged that our Board are keen to develop talent internally.

Just think....we were fighting to sign Tedesco, Turbo Bros., Oates, Fifita, Mitchell...so its not like we havent tried.

Better times ahead.

We've had 7 days to recruit for 2021. Don't slit your wrists because we've made no signings just yet. Wait at least 14 days. We've extended the contracts of some talent already.

exactly this... Dogs were one of the strongest finishers for the regular season and if DWZ played the full season with us, he would have been in contention for signing of the year... I also think that despite what some fans say about Pay's coaching, players are performing and getting better under him... so I look forward to seeing the same thing with the players that we actually have signed for 2020

Yeah I know his defence is terrible but he can run fucking hard and make line breaks, I still think of him running over the top of Smith twice in one game? Any change Okunbor is in Pay's plans for the starting 13 round 1 at centre?
His defence is atrocious.he will be targeted by other teams.he struggles defending on the wing.

Yeah I know about his defence, but surely that can be coached? Anyway a thought if we don't get a new centre for 2020.

He has potential I don’t think he realises how much.he looked nervous at times in attack and defence.would like to see him show some more mongrel in attack he needs to watch sivo and Ferguson.he needs to step up this year if he will get left behind

I'm 99% certain he will start the year on the wing with Pay continuing with Smith at centre.

1. DWZ
2. Meaney
3. Smith
4. Hoppa
5. Okunbor

If no changes to the 2019 roster, that line up is best.

No chance sorry
Massive chance, Pay will go with it to start the year. He won't blood Averillo at centre and I doubt Harper gets a start. Could go with Montoya though.

I'd start Averillo at centre and push Smith back to the wing over Okunbor.

Wouldn't mind seeing that. If Okunbor can sort his D and handling errors out I think he'll take Meanys spot eventually.
Going off last season I'd still prefer Meaney over Okunbor. Okunbor has the better physique for a Winger but I DON'T THINK he's aggressive enough (passive in the mind - it's hard to explain). Also Meaney is safe as under the high ball we can't say the same for Okunbor. Unless we sign a goal kicker I don't see Meaney out of the side either.

I'd have both of them tho.
1. DWZ
2. Meaney
3. Hopoate
4. Reimis
5. Okunbor

IF we want our strongest back five not considering where we want players to play in the future post 2020 (I don't know who we're recruiting and where so hard for me to judge) that's the best IN MY OPINION. I don't know enough about Averillo and any of the other younger guys to put them in. Also would like to stay clear from Holland and Montoya.

Okunbor needs specialist training on the wing, absolutely smash him with the highball, defensive drills and finishing all preseason. He's the type of player that can appear to play like shit all game yet manage to rack up 200m+ with a stack of tackle breaks and multiple line breaks and tries lol.
