He was contracted to the Donkeys and was part of their top 30 roster.
The kid had a sook when he was told he would be continuing his development in lower grades.
Oloapu then had a sook and declared he would never play for the Donkeys ever again.
In comes Gus to the rescue.
Agrees to pay the Donkeys 500k transfer to take the kid off their hands.
All parties agree and Oloapu is now a dogs player.
We had him in lower grades but was forced to use him at NRL level due to injuries.
We tried to ease him into NRL.
But circumstances didn't allow at the time.
And Oloapu was also very impatient.

So there you have it, bit of a history lesson for the kids.

This is different circumstances to Oloapu. The team was going shit at that time and through the kid in the deep end to see if he could fix it.

This time the team is going great and have no need to rush woods to first grade.

He will start next year in NSW Cup, then maybe he will be eased into first grade halfway through the year or when he is ready. Depending on how he handles NSW cup.

I think he turned 18 last month.

The essential requirement for Woodsy is time. He has to develop his body as he is a bit on the skinny side.
However, he has enormous talent and will shine with good players around him.

I wonder if the coaching staff have told him that's the plan? We'll know for sure if he plays Cup at the back end of the year. I like the idea of O'Neill and Woods developing a combo together in NSW Cup for 2025. We are really starting to have depth in many positions for the first time since 2014 it's really exciting

His only 18 this year will fill in at Jersey Flegg this year
Probably make the transition to Flegg next year then full season of Cup when his 20 either get to play first grade when his 21 or 22 I believe
Slow slow no need to rush young blokes

Wow born in 2006. When we watched the Dogs win the premiership in 04, little did we know that the halfback that could possibly take us to our next premiership wasn't even born yet.

He will be in the Penrtih JRL next season. Just wish we lived closer to Canterbury JRL...

Burton is only young himself so I don’t think O’Neill would get a look in any time soon. Unless it’s at halfback while waiting for Woods to be ready
