View attachment 69980
So tell me what is worse...a player charged with foul play THREE times+(plus) in the last twelve months (including a hip drop, grade 2 high tackle) only getting a $3000 fine for accepting a charge of grade one dangerous contact or someone using the words b@llshit decision...

Lindsay Collins (Sydney)

  • Grade 1 Dangerous Contact
  • 27th minute
  • Base penalty $1500
  • 3rd+ offence last 12 months
  • His options:
2 matches: Guilty at judiciary or plea of no contest
OR $3000: Guilty - early plea

I suspect that this has been blown out of proportion due to the soccer referee being bashed at Padstow on Friday night.

There has been a strong "respect for officials" theme in the media over the past couple of days.

Abdo reacted.

If you think that Grub rushing up to the reff shouting "BULLSHIT!" was great then I have news for you.
Abusing a reff, no matter how well deserved it may or may not be is unprofessional and could have gotten him sent off for ten and is not tolerated at any level in any sport anywhere!
This was not a good example to set for juniors!
How the fuck did he rush up to the ref and abuse him?
Player on the floor with the ball surrendering it’s all fair game to smash the bloke.
Nothing was in it even the commentators said that’s not a penalty.
Ref blows penalty right where the tackle was made , Reynolds what did I do ,
Ref you hit him in the head Reynolds that’s bullshit, Ref get his periods and has a sook.

That creepy crawley saying majority thought it should have been sin binned is total bs.

I look at just about every mainstream NRL site on Twitter and every single one has general rugby league public denouncing Atkins for his overreacting.

Grub shouldnt have said it but it was very unprofessional reaction from Atkins as well.

Bonus is JR exonerated but Abdo had to step in to react to Crawley then MRC only fine bare minimum.

It gives the public yet more classic examples of the extremely poor officiating and refereeing atm.

Bet if it wasn't audible there'd be no fine.

All in all, fair punishment for the indiscretion, he's not the captain so shouldn't be speaking to the refs. And screaming a profanity in his face is asking for trouble.

Did he hit the head? looked like a light brushing, but we've been nailed for less. Anyway, what is he trying to be, a big man by drilling someone prone on the ground? Really? Just came off looking like a meathead.

It was halftime, no point questioning the call, he was never going to gain anything. In fact he ensured Atkins gave us nothing all 2nd half. Still, the boys played above that and got the win.

Yep, fine Josh Reynolds for dissent

Nek minut, Souths fielding 14 player, no worries.... Where's Abdo's outcry??
Yeah like the NRL CEO takes it upon himself to intervene to make sure a guy who says bullshit on the field (but not directly at the ref) has to be crucified, fined or suspended by the MRC or he protests and is unhappy they didnt site JR.

So so many other illegalities, bad player behaviour, fans disgruntly with his and Vlads handling and future of our game and this pelican has to go on camera to make it an even bigger issue and bow down to Crawley etc.

The Match Review Committee has been forced to backflip on its decision after Josh Reynolds sensationally escaped a charge for abusing referee Grant Atkins.

NRL boss Andrew Abdo has invoked his powers and demanded the match review committee review their decision not to charge Josh Reynolds for abusing referee Grant Atkins.

The Bulldogs’ veteran sensationally escaped a charge on Monday morning for hollering “bulls***” at Atkins in a fiery exchange leading into the halftime break during Sunday’s game against St George Illawarra.

However, following Abdo’s intervention, the match review committee has done a backflip, hitting Reynolds with a grade-one contrary conduct charge, which carries a $1000 fine.

Fans were already outraged that Reynolds was not immediately sin binned on Sunday, with an overwhelming 81 per cent of more than 3000 punters saying he should have been marched.

The situation has not been made any better by the fact this incident involving Reynolds came on the same weekend horrifying vision emerged of a soccer referee getting violently attacked after a match in western Sydney.

Atkins was clearly angry after Reynolds questioned a penalty that went against him for whacking Dragons fullback Tyrell Sloan in the back of the head.

Reynolds then took it up with Atkins just before the players left the field.

When Atkins told Reynolds that he thought there was head contact, Reynolds screamed “bull****”.

While some commentators thought the incident did not warrant any further action, the concern is this type of aggressive behaviour directly towards any match officials is not only unacceptable at NRL level but it filters down the chain to park footy and junior sport.

The NRL has made massive strides in recent years to improve the respect given to referees, but Reynolds clearly overstepped the line on this occasion.

It was also a penalty that was warranted given the replays clearly show Reynolds had made contact to Sloan’s head.

While Dogs fans may have felt hard done by when Corey Waddell was later sin binned for a professional foul, the fact is they should have lost Reynolds earlier.
Meanwhile Dragons spear TPJ headfirst into the ground, and nobody is binned. Wadell refuses to let go of the ball when in possession, and is binned. Why weren't the "81%" screaming about this? Or were they all St. George fans whining on their fan site?

what grant atkins has done, is show every nrl fan every nrl supporter, that he atkins thinks he bigger than the game, and he thinks he far superior to anyone else on the field
atkins needs to earn the players respect, and it wont be given the way he referees games

Nasheed here,
Just had a thought,
Could Reynolds be a bench option for origin?
I can see Fittler liking him and using him for NRG
This could well be the dumbest post you’ve ever done
