Hypothetical if we’d kept Asotasi and O’Meley instead....

Hypothetically. It changes squat.
We still end up with Hasler,Dib and Castle.
These 3 fucked up the management structures that were previously in place.
It was the destruction of these that put us were we are now.
The hypothetical situation your talking about happened 15 years ago.
It is generally accepted that we recruited based on 10m cap..but it ended up at 9.4m.

I've heard all the excuses why we had to get rid of Jammer, Woods etc but it was only 600k out of wack.

We have had all these crazy contracts, ratchet clauses, no money to sign anyone but we have used the little money we did have on very poor players who were never going to make a difference.

The club has suffered so much. Gone down hill so far. It's been 6? years since we signed a decent player prior to 2020 Cotric.

We lost players. We paid for some to play elsewhere...even Suli! It's crazy the kind of results all our past Admin have inflicted on the club with roster management since 2012.

The whole mess just does not make sense. It doesn't add up. I would call for an enquiry into the cap management since then if supporters want the truth. Otherwise its just more arguing amongst ourselves with little to no facts.

Even these excuses, which are valid in themselves, do not account for the total fail as a club that we have endured.

Are you seriously that deluded???
  • He dogged the club, then insulted us when he walked out, it wasn't simply about looking after himself
  • He then apologised, knowing what he did was wrong
  • He wasn't looking after himself considering he was on the same amount of money with us as Toulon offered him, he wanted to leave
  • The club bent over backwards giving him the deal he wanted, and that still wasn't good enough for him
  • Then he comes back to the NRL and signs with our most hated rival.
It's not rocket science, do the maths.

The fans respect Willie a lot more because the club released him, and he loves the club (even played with our legends team), but what SBW did was absolutely disgusting.

As for you comment about us not winning the Premiership without him... LOL... he was injured for 7 rounds in 2004 and we faired just fine without him!
Lmao he apologised ! Why does he have to apologise for leaving a job to go make 4 times more ,?????? ARE U THAT DELUDED THAT FOOTY PLAYERS HAVE TO DIE FOR THEIR CLUB ??? Life isn’t what the media portrays it to be. Yes players are grateful for fans and vice versa but mate some of u sick fucks actually believe you have the right to judge and dictate what another man does in their persona life. SMFH. you need to take your head out ur arse, u sound like deniro in “the fan” he signed with our rival let the man live. Being an all black shits on playing for ur junior nrl club mate.
As for ya not wining without him, think about how many times he saved our arse in 04, you are Fucken deluded id u think his impact didn’t have anything to do with us wining

Always wondered, if we had not invested in the scum bags money grabbing arseholes Mason and $BW back when we did, and let them go to keep Asotasi and O’Meley (guys who actually loved the club) would that have changed the course of our future? I know it was a while ago, and at the time Mason and Williams were very good players, but I just wonder if building a team around better humans who loved the emblem would of changed things when adding Morris, Ennis , Staggs and co.

Maybe another premiership there?? Who knows?

Also, may have effected Souths ability to recruit the way they did without Roy....

Just a flash back question given all the negativity around us at the moment. Something else to chat about....
You’re living in the past man, you’re hung up on some footballers from The 2000’s man. Who cares what might have been 15 years ago man.

How do you know we paid part of Suli’s contract? Is there some list of this in public as thats some terrible decision making. I recall we hired and fired suli preseason...

Saw it in a statement by Hill when he was explaining the mess.

Willie mason was a Churchill medalist and one of the best forwards to ever play for the club. SBW is a legend in both codes and if the club had let him go amicably, we could have had him play for us again down the track and probably contributed to another premiership. Staggs was a dud btw. We've got to get out of the mentality of praising pluggers who offer no go forward. We've also got to get out of the habit of bagging club legends like mason
Absolutely agree on Mason, he is a club legend and I maintain he was largely part of our dominance in that era not to mention without that performance in the GF, we probably don’t win. On the other hand, SBW clearly had the markings of a superstar and we only got to see a few years of it, the turning point was his leaving in the middle of the night to play Rugby in France when we were paying him marquee money and preparing to build a team around him.... when an uncontrollable event like that happens, the cap which is planned around certain players puts a club into disarray.

Asotasi was a weapon with great footwork at the line. O’Meley was just a straight up battering ram. Beast.
