Hull FC thrashed local rivals Hull Kingston Rovers in the Clive Sullivan Trophy, scoring ten tries in a dominant performance at the KC Stadium.
The Black and Whites’ new signings stood out in the annual pre-season derby, with Carlos Tuimavave scoring two tries whilst Mahe Fonua, Sika Manu and Scott Taylor also got over the whitewash.
Frank Pritchard got his Hull FC career off to the perfect start, putting in a Man of the Match performance.
Marc Sneyd also stood out, commanding the play at scrum-half and kicking a perfect ten conversions from ten attempts.
THE MATCH
Josh Mantellato gave the away side an early lead, converting his own try on five minutes, before Hull FC took a strangle-hold of the first half.
Hull FC debutants Fonua and Manu reversed the scores, with Sneyd adding the extras to both efforts to give the hosts a 12-6 lead after 20 minutes played.
Chris Clarkson pulled one back for Rovers from close range but FC scored four tries to take a commanding 36-10 advantage into the changing rooms at half-time.
Pritchard came on to a standing ovation and made an immediate impact, with tackles from the former Canterbury man and fellow new boy Scott Taylor forcing a goal-line drop-out.
The Samoa international was involved in FC’s next try, producing a superb offload to Josh Bowden who had Jamie Shaul in support.
A third debutant then got over the line before the half an hour mark, with Tuimavave stepping past two tacklers to score.
The Airlie Birds’ fifth try came from substitute Steve Michaels, who then turned provider from another long-range Hull FC break, assisting Shaul for his second try.
HALF-TIME: HULL FC 36-10 HULL KINGSTON ROVERS
Taylor was the fourth debutante over the line, scoring against old club, with Sneyd notching up his 7th goal.
That was followed by a Mark Minichiello try from Leon Pryce’s clever pass, before trialist Lee Smith scored to round off a passing move created by Tuimavave and Pritchard.
Smith, Tuimavave and Pritchard teamed up again down the right edge to put Tuimavave over for his second of the afternoon.
Kieran Dixon claimed two late consolation tries for Rovers in the final ten minutes, with Ryan Shaw adding one conversion.
