Harry Hayes Appreciation thread

No nonsense, goes all day and never lets you down. Great player that I think we'll have trouble holding onto over the next few years

He's not better than Hughes lol
Correct. Hughes is being kept in Cup and being purposefully playing big minutes. This week in Cup.
Again next week when we have bye. By that time he will be primed for 1sts

Agree. Not yet at full NRL level match fitness.

nah we need salmon starting at lock
No we don't.

The coming weeks will show that without salmon our forward pack will defend by being more able attack wise, hence having more field position and ball possession.

Our team will be asking more questions of the defensive lines which will work to our advantage

yes we do

Very impressed with him also. Good luck picking our best 17. Decisions need to be made soon as I suspect we will lose some very good players. I know there is a lot of hate for Salmon, but by all reports his communication is key in defence. My best 17.

1. Tracey
2. Kiraz
3.Xerri
4.Critta
5. Montoya
6. Burton
7.Hayward
8.The King
9.Mahoney
10. Hayes
11. Kikau
12. Preston
13. Mann
14. Galvin
15. Curran
16. Toupinoa
17. Todd
18. Hughes
19. Salmon
20. Sexton
21. Hopoi
22. Fifita

I listed 22 as I think this what would come out each week on TLT. Obviously this is my preference, not what Sir…Aldo would pick.

Very much reminds me of (early days) Josh Jackson and Dale Finucane.

Tough as nails, has some nice footwork, and can find the line.

I wonder if fully fit Todd doesn’t start at 13 eventually with Mann coming on after 25-30 (not this year).

Big skilful lad with great ball skills and a big motor. And can do the hard yards salmon and Hayward can’t do. I’m just thinking with Salmon, Hayward, Mann we have too much of the same same. Then need to fit Galvin in there too and Todd looked first grade ready in his brief time there this year. I guess won’t be a decision that has to be made soon with Todd and Salmon both out.

But I am hoping we go get Hughes into the side because Fifita can drop a ball of 2 or miss a few tackles in his limited time on the field.

Very close for his try and Lachy's for feelgood moment of the match, what a fantastic club man and teammate and lots of Bulldog history in his ancestry..
You are a bloody gem Harry.

Been a big fan since his first game. Still remember him coming on and making four tackles straight. Could see he had something about him immediately. Got plenty of pace about him too

Hayes has been one of my favourites since he debuted. He's a different style of player, but in terms of a competitior, fitness, consistency and defence he reminds me a lot of Preston. I think he has a huge future and is only scratching the surface of his potential. He's an automatic selection in the 17 and always shows he can handle bigger minutes.

Like I said earlier in the year, Hayes is like Finucane was for us but with more size and attacking potential.

Sam and harry are going to be massive for us.
Next year will have king,Thompson, harry and Sam.
Todd kikau Preston Sitili Curran Mann Hayward salmon hopoi Latu ….

8. King
9. Mahoney
10. Leo T
11. Kikau
12. Preston
13. Mann

14. Hayward
15. Harry
16. Sitili
17. Curran

18. Hughes
19. Todd
20. Salmon
21. Hiopi
22. Latu

Some fucking pack and depth which will need.

Mann will finish up next year I think. Means Todd probably fights into bench. Maybe 13 if Hayward takes 9 I’d say Hughes or latu or Hipoi force the next spot. Impressive future just gotta keep it together as long as possible!

Honestly I don't see much Dale in him. Dale was more kamikaze style, bit more dynamic but that lead to a few errors. Hayes is more reliable, just a consistent up and down type of player, like a younger, more athletic Tolman lol.

Yeah I agree with that. With Finuncane it was more due to his consistency, toughness, effort and defensive work rate that reminds me of him. Hayes has a lot more to his attacking game obviously. Like Tolman and Finucane, Hayes will do anything for his teammates and never stop working. Hopefully he just doesn't love a 4th tackle settler like Tolman did. Haha
