So based on this half the team is gone
Half of the 17 who played yesterday won't be here in 2024 and we'll try and move the contracted ones on next year (a lot more salary cap in the ones coming off contract after 2024).

If he says he hadn't started yet with swinging the axe.

This bunch of weaklings will 100% throw in the towel, rather than the 90% of last night, to rise to the challenge and fight to prove they are firstgraders.

Oh well more pain before gain. Running last anyway.

What was the question? I'm blocked
I hope that plan involves swinging the axe through the defensive liabilities! We trust you to do what's in the best interests of the club, to deliver sustainable success.

Gus: Always. We haven’t started yet.

Straight out another spoon is a big no no you come 15th others fans will view it as a shit season a spoon goes down in the history books we need Flanagan now. Last 3 weeks were all games we should’ve won will be defining in the event we get the spoon we need a change asap.

Gus is smart and wants to get this right. Flanagan is only one thing he needs for next year. He will be asking everyone how do we turn this around long term. Even the Assistant coaches, scouting for talent all sorts of stuff will need to be looked at. I think it will be worth it this time not to panic and have to put up with some bad games until the end of this season. Plus a whole lot of poor performing players will be given the tap on the shoulder, no contract will be offered for next year.

I've never really copped that, you promote/sign players on minimum wage and pay overs for the better/top players. We paid overs for duds time and time again, even players who should be on minimum wage. Our recruitment "models" been shit house. Yes, you can't win a comp doing this but after 3 years you're in a much better position than wooden spoon and when contracts start to run down you can renegotiate and sign players for less than what you could previously.
A reminder how it all unfolded...
1. Andersons & Co striped the team of 6 players supposedly to balance the cap, paid a big portion of their wage to play elsewhere lowering the cap space we can spend on our roster...I am sure they knew they still had to spend the minimum 95% of the roster regardless of what the roster is.
2. Here is where it all started to crumble, players managers know our predicament and inability to attract big name players so like players managers do they pushed the clueless Andersons & Co into signing average players on a much higher wages and longer term contracts,
They placed the club in a bad cycle !!!

The player managers didn't hold a gun to their heads tho. No one forced them to buy duds.

There were still good, reasonable players out there. Other teams found them.

It's a fail all round on everyone.

The problem was the Andersons (just as bad if not worse than Dib/Castle), not the spending 95% rule.
