Official Gus on Twitter

I’d just prefer a team that’s settled and has self belief and a GM of footy who isn’t a media whore who confuses the fuck out of the players and makes them question their worth through his public comments.

You can tell from the way Gus talks that he was behind Galvin being rushed into firsts, and probably behind Reed getting phased out. He openly admitted on telly earlier this week that Galvin had never played 7, even in the junior ranks, so why would you fuck with a winning formula to rush him into a team that’s already exceeding expectations?

Tougher draw or not, the proof is in the pudding. There were plenty of games we just didn’t show up for in the last 10 rounds.

I don’t get how you guys don’t see the pattern with Gus. He’s very good on the rebuilding phase. Good at attracting talent and rebuilding pathways. But after a while, his ego gets in the way and he starts to overplay his hand. Happened at Penrith, happened at the chooks previously. Don’t get why you folks don’t think it will happen here. Especially given the way our season nosedived.
You are obviously smarter than the rest of us. And smarter than our board, who just approved the extension of Gus's contract. The same board who have overseen the Dogs progressing from 15th on the ladder two years ago to 3rd this year, and the record membership, crowds and sponsorship that the Dogs have enjoyed this year.

And, of course, you are smarter than Adam Driussi, the chairman of the board, a successful, and by many accounts an astute and intelligent, businessman, who has recently spoken positively about Gus and was very happy for Gus's contract extension.

Bravo.

Don't forget Adam Driussi is also an actuary lol

You all overreacting. Galvin will be a better 6 than Burton. Gus knows what he's doing.
I have full faith that Galvin will be a top tier player and will be great for us long term, I also agree that taking him this year when we had the chance was the only right option.

I could be way off with my prediction, but I see Galvin as our long term 13 and believe that they see him as our version of Isaiah Yeo and that's what they're trying to mold him into. He just needs to build up and improve defensively.

This leaves Woods as our right foot kicking option on the right edge and Burton as our left foot kicking option on our left edge.

This is only my opinion from how I'm reading it.

Yeah, I think he should reveal all his plans to some random on social media.
Not what I meant, he’s lied in the past and said Oloapu wasn’t leaving and then the club made a statement he was leaving

Dont lie to your fans

Gus can lie as long as our list improves
We just dont know the arrangements he is teeing up for players etc he may not be at liberty to reveal all the private details or negotiations. It may be critical to the players futures. Who knows. Reckon we just have to give him the benefit of the doubt, but, he could certainly help the situation by shutting up.

With Fox hounding the club bc of Gus, love to see him give up his media commentary and concentrate on the Bulldogs.

After his contract here is completed in 2031, he can resume his media duties with Ch9, podcast etc.

Gus' ego with Galvin derailed the season. Not in the history of sport has a team coming 1st dismantled its entire roster to squeeze in someone who quit on their previous club
Whilst he may of not quit his former club, Brodie Croft was the number 7 for Melbourne for all of 21 rounds in 2019.

They were coming first, and proceeded to drop him.

What happened to Melbourne the next year?

They’re playing the long game. The experience Galvin and Bailey got to tail off the year could turn out immeasurably.

Take a chill pill
