Official Gus on Twitter

It must be so frustrating for Gus and others in the know to listen to vermin like chammas claim they know something but have to be quiet. They just throw shit at the wall and hope it sticks, then in this case, they didn't get the insider info they were hoping for so have turned on Gus and now saying he's mislead people... Um he was asked about a player last year, he was / is paid to critique players and he does all the time, he gave Galvin a glowing review and now it's called tapping up? Tigers didn't mind it when Gus said it last year, you didn't see people whinging saying he's being tapped up?

NRL journos think they're owed something
Its frustrating for anyone who has first hand knowledge of an issue/ incident/ scenario and sees how sections of the media report on it - doesnt matter whether it sports organisations, hospitals, policing, education, politics, - media is about clicks/ views/listens/ and influence not facts - a positive is that increasingly more people are realising it and developing a heathier cynicism.

Chammas is pissed over the fact Gus is now rebuilt his relationship with Isaac Moses.
Chammas and Isaac have real life beef that actually got physical at some point.
Remember not Isaac Moses client can be on the same show as Chammas

Yeah didn’t Mitchell Moses (Isaac’s nephew and manager) recently tell them he wouldn’t come on if Chammas was present? Edit: Sorry I should have read your whole comment which you said his clients can’t be on the same show.

That would’ve definitely hurt his feelings that Gus now is dealing with him again too.

Not a journalist, just a fan of the game and big fan of the Bulldogs.

But i dont lose my moral compass if the Dogs do something i dont agree with.

In this instance, i dont think we as a club did anything wrong in going after Galvin when he announced he wasn't staying at Tigers. I applaud it.

And i dont really mind if Gus had to tell a white lie bavk in April when quizzed on it. But trying to backtrack now and prove he wasnt lying is abit of a cop-out.

Id rather he just smirked and said "i couldn't reveal at the time".
But the part you don't mention is even if he did want to sign him, he couldn't till next year for the year after that, that's why he said he isn't in our calculations, and he also said that galvin wasn't off contract till 2027.

Aswell about sexton, Gus said when they were going back and forth that his manager keep pushing for a contract and someone in the media who's close with him keeps pushing the same story, who's he talking about?

Not certain but his name may be Eamon Tiernan. I thought I saw that as the journo who wrote the Sexton story last night, but now the article says Fox League for Fox Sports… so Fox League wrote the article? Lol ok. Damage control possibly?

I started running journey almost a year ago and wasnt really a big runner but got addicted lol completed 5 half marathons since and training for a full marathon at the moment

Holy grail the 100km event
Do you sing eye of the tiger in your head on repeat when you run? I do.

People arguing and complaining about what Gus said weeks ago just proves their low IQ, regardless of whether we were interested in Galvin, of course Gus isn't gonna go on national TV when the kids still under contract for another 18 months and declare we want him, if he did then everyone would be complaining about anti tampering when no one was able to communicate with him at that point in time and the Tigers had come out publicly and said that he was still under contract and not allowed to leave. Rival fans and the media hypocrites need to get over it.

They do that when they want to have no ownership of the story. Just float rumours with no one able to be attacked. I'd suggest he got some heat and they decided to just put it as staff writers.

I swear I thought I was overthinking the situation when I saw fox sports instead of a journos name, damage control and a half

The only blow Chammas landed was when Gus opened himself up about being the only CEO having to answer all these questions, and Chammas rightly chimed in that Gus puts himself in that position by being in the media.

Other than that moment Gus grilled him hard.

I disagree. Yes he puts himself in that position, which opens him up to that sort of interrogation but I think you and other misunderstood his point. I think he was saying that he’s in a position to be questioned but he has NO obligation to answer certain questions or discuss what would usually be kept internal.

To put it more concisely, he’s available to be questioned etc, but that doesn’t mean he has to answer everything because he also has a duty to his club employer, to not divulge certain things.

You'd have to be rather naive to think we weren't interested from earlier in the year...

These Nov 1 anti-negotiation laws are the real reason Gus doesnt want to admit to lying in April. It can land him (and others) in hot water if it can be proven that contract discussions were happening in background without permission.

The media loves this Nov 1 anti-negotiation as they know shit really happens behind the scenes and the media circus is what sells.
maybe interested IF he became available, but we didn't know with 100% certainty that he was to become available, so even if Gus had the idea in his head that he would like to have Galvin, the fact is we wouldn't have been preparing for him with any certainty that he'd be available now.

Too logical n rational - especially the second bit.

Gus owned chammas. Gus don't need to answer to the general public or journalists, he answers to the bulldogs members and supporters, we are the ones who support the club.
Thats well and true..
But being also on the panel of such a talkback show, he puts himself in a position where he has to respond to such questions and innuendos.

Other GM's arent in the spotlight like him, so can hide while such negotiations are taking place. They just front up on press conference day, announce the new signing and off they go.

You need a special talent and be good with words and having a standing in the game to pull off what Gus does with both his GM role at Bulldogs and media commitments at 9.

Not even Bennett can pull it off.
Bennett is also good in press conferences and interviews but he's nowhere near in the spotlight as Gus.
