Welcome back!

Ok...

Flanno and Fittler are basically in the lead (gut feeling Flanno done deal).

Around 10 players have been or will be tapped on the shoulder to leave.

All coaching staff will be gone.

All 22 and 23 recruits will honour their contracts.

No player has a baz contract.

I think that's about it for now.
Really - Jungle Juice? Well, no more recreational drugs I suppose - ASADA will be in the boys back pocket daily.

Did we have coaching staff? Well thats fckng news.

Ok - was really hoping for something left field but a drug lord experienced coach doesn't hurt...

Thanks bro.

Fittler??? Gus just said on some footy show that Fittler will stick to Origin and 9 or is that Gus being Gus? Fittler flopped at the Chooks with the red carpet and all the support from Uncle Nick. It will be Baz 2.0 all over again.

After hearing Gus talk about our salary cap position in 2024 I can’t help but feel Munster is on the radar. He has a history of going hard for marquee players he wants

Leading as realistic choices but it's looking like it's Flanno.

IF it's Fittler then you know he is just a front for the public and Gus will be the brains.

IMO Flanno was set to take over a week before the roosters game.

It's clear as day that Shane Flanagan will be the head coach in 2023

The real and difficult question is the coaching staff which they will build around Shane....
Who are going to be the assistant coaches, defensive coach, strength and conditioning trainer, specialist coach, waterboy, etc...

the thing I like about flanno is he came in at Cronulla while they were a rabble aswell.. and he recruited well for them and they were a tough side.. we need toughness

If it's Flanno he'll have to create history to win a GF with the Dogs. I don't think any premiership winning coach at the Dogs since at least 1943 ever won a ARL/NRL GF as a coach before coming to the Dogs - Glossop, Ryan, Gus, Anderson, Folkes.

Glossop won GF at his 3rd year at the Dogs, RU 2nd year, 5th 1st year
Ryan won GF in his 1st and 2nd years, RU 3rd year
Gus won GF 1st year
Anderson won GF 6th year
Folkes won GF 7th year
Moral of the story - get a coach with a few years experience and a good track record rather than a premiership winner. Gus was the anomaly winning in his first year at coaching just like Robinson at the Chooks.

Interesting bro. What makes you think that?
IMO the roosters game was a setup to show the board that baz is not the man for the job. Before that we were rubbish, after that we were rubbish.

Gus took over training and booted baz to the sidelines. That win was all him. It was the proof the board needed to decide to punt him.

Now Gus doesn't do anything without thinking. He wouldn't of sacked him or let him walk if he didn't have every thing planned out.

Interim coach was needed to keep the "he quit" narrative, otherwise the media vultures would never let it down and it would effect the players.

I'm not saying Gus is never wrong but he has to be the most knowledgeable man in league, from grass roots to running a club. People don't realise he is a football genius and one of the best things to happen to the Dogs since 2004.

Coach chooses his team if he wants.

Sounds like we needed a coach who was willing to take the losses on the chin for a while, and be comfortable to wear the hits from the media. Definitely not the type of role for a young man trying to prove his worth as a coach. As Gus has said before, it was never the right time for Trent to be at the Bulldogs. He would need to ride out another 18 months and demand enough faith for another contract based on very little evidence he could take us to great heights. It was never going to happen.
I think Mick is a good choice to help us through this year, and then someone with experience and resilience can start the build for ‘24 in ‘23.
I’ll be going along for the ride and the day we’re back at the top will be the sweetest ever.
The reality is, that Baz needed just 1 more win to buy him some more time.

The problem however was that we really weren't playing any good footy at all, and our 2 wins came from the opposition being poorer than us rather than us being better.

A win out of Canberra or Knights would have put us equal 13th and woukd relieved some of that pressure but Baz has himself to blame to flogging the same horse and not identifying the root cause of our poor attack.

Lets hope Potter doesn't also stick his head in the sand and actually swaps players in the hooking role

I think it was clear after round 3 he wasn't the man for the job. Baz picking up a win here and there (like he did against the Roosters) was just delaying the inevitable.

I hope Mick Potter succeeds and is signed on as our full time coach but won't be happy if Flannagan does gets the job.

Just feel Potter has bled for the club and his heart would be in it where as for Flannagan it's just another coaching opportunity at an NRL club after coaching the Sharks and then helping out with the Dragons.

I'd take Ciraldo or Woolf before Flannagan but please no mention of Paul Green as our coach, that would be a step backwards.

I heard in a podcast one really weird scenario about Madge is not wanted at the Tigers and could be shifted to us and that would allow Flannagan to become their coach for 2023. Apparently Gould has known Madge a long time and respects him as a coach. Hopefully this is just more BS as I wouldn't want Madge at the club either.

100% spot on. The very definition of insanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
