He has done one thing wrong. No body was hurt, nobody was charged, and it was at a private function behind closed doors, yet you write him off? What about the constant hard work he does within the community? One blemish and you deem him a liability. Wow.
At the MM trial the judge mentioned that it was his second incident before the court (for drunkenness?) for which he had undergone some counselling.

Ok, but he is hardly a blight on society. Comparibly, Lodge was a captaincy candidate under Seibold. Need I say more.

Understand what you are saying. His charity work is very commendable.

You'd have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he has got himself under control plus with now becoming a father, he should have settled down.

I've always said the MM stuff was sensationally overblown by our good friends at the telecrap but it could go against him for captaincy. He needs to be consistent with his good form and errors to go to that level IMO.

He seems to be held in high regard at the club having said that.

Jackson still has three years to go it’s probably too early to tell as a lot can happen in that time frame. The role of a captain has changed over the last 20 years it’s more important to know how to communicate and manipulate the refs then being a inspirational club stalwart.

As things stand at this very minute I think Lewis has more right to being the Bulldogs captain than Flanagan

Who knows who will be with the club in a year or two, someone might join who’s a real standout, others might move on.

A genuine captain will show qualities, they need to talk and be a motivator on the field, being a good bloke isn’t enough.

100% Elliot will be the next club captain... People can talk about the off field issues, but he's changed and has a kid now

Big believer that people learn from dumb actions and Elliott has clearly done that.... really it's his to lose but I think he needs a couple of big seasons on the field.

If anything Luke Thompson should be next in line to be captain. Flanagan is too young to be made captain for the time being.
The Tamou biting charge whether fair or unfair has stained his reputation a bit plus still the chance he’s going to get homesick and pack his bags one day.

Elliott also has the indigenous factor going for him and the good work he does there.

Elliott for the Captain in waiting is really a no brainer. He is made for it.

Elliot will be captain if he can still make the run on team 4 years from now. Hopefully our roster would have improved by then..

We have the current NZ kiwi test skipper in DWZ in our team & he doesn’t get a mention.... not that he deserves it at present! Jackson god love him, is like Boyd Cordner, almost past his used by date, but hopefully under T Baz rekindles the form we know he can deliver weekly. Issue with Jackson is he’s too much of a nice guy & ref’s show him and our team Fark all respect.
We would use our challenge in the first 5mins if DWZ was captain.

Yeah to me a captain can't have transgressions in their history, new stories from Elliott pop up every year. In saying that maybe a co captaincy would be in order for both Elliott and Flanagan in the future as Elliott could be the motivator and Flanagan the strategist.
No co-captains please.

Settle down Fenech with all the yous lol What is being said is the club looks at past and current behaviour before deciding on a captain. Most would agree he would be a good captain. Unfortunately its like the story of the guy that built a whole city, but then fukd that one goat and will now always be known as the goat fuker, not the city builder !
Look at all the charity work he does. You's remember that? Or are yous just like all the journalists only remember the bad?. He has all the leadership qualities. He deserves it over anyone else in the squad
