In the clear: Todd Greenberg has been cleared of any wrongdoing with regards to Ryan Tandy’s bets. Source: News Limited
The NRL has cleared Todd Greenberg of any wrongdoing in connection to its investigation over late prop Ryan Tandy’s football wagers.
Greenberg fell under scrutiny after issuing a categorical denial of having been presented with a betting ledger of Tandy’s wagers at a meeting in August 2010.
The ledger was kept by former journalist John Schell, who was placing the bets on Tandy’s behalf. It showed four separate NRL bets totalling $21,000.
Greenberg’s denial conflicted with Schell’s evidence in both a sworn NSW police statement and on the witness stand, before the NSW Local Court in 2011.
Bulldogs football manager Alan Thompson was also at the 2010 meeting, and provided his recollection of events to the NRL Integrity Unit.
A statement released by the NRL said: “An independent report has found no reliable evidence that NRL Head of Football, Mr Todd Greenberg, was shown a betting ledger or text messages revealing that former Bulldogs player Ryan Tandy was betting on Rugby League matches.”
