in recent years we have had 2 of the best goal kickers in the game darryl halligan and hazem el masri, we were know for kicking goals and having the best kick percentage in the nrl.

from those days darryl halligan is a kicking coach working with many clubs and individuals and making a big difference to how these players are kicking

why dont we have any decent kickers backing up hodko, 3 kickers used last night all 3 failed 2 were relatively easy kicks, same as our halves, joey johns is one of the best halves coaches around yet again we dont seem to have anyone training our boys..

points come from good halves and goal kicking so why are we failing so badly in these departments

Another hasler embarrasment.

Using 3 kickers for 3 kicks last night showed hasler didnt even bother trialing who is the best kicker in the team.

It seemed like we lost our main kicker in the first minute of the game and team/coach had no idea who is second best.

For fck sake des you had 4 weeks to get a kicker ready for this game.

Pathetic!

Moving forward for next year, either Lafai or Mbye (both being left footers) need to focus on it, while also getting a right footer for kicks on the left and general back up. This format means you have a decent option either side of the field while not taking away from other facets of the game that need to be improved by both of these blokes.

This is going to be a huge issue for us this year, and I can see the conversions being the point of difference to winning and losing.

Based on the way Mbye finished last year, it will be an issue, but I trust that Mbye would have put the work in over the off season. He was kicking it sweet off the foot earlier in the year last season then just flopped - hope he had a big off season working on it.

To be completely honest, goal kicking is a muscle memory thing.
If m'bye gets the duties and takes enough kicks at training, he'll be fine.

Heard a while back that he has been spending some time with Halligan in the off season. Hopefully this is true and has helped.

Not alot of other noted kickers in our side. Only Holland apparently and he's got to get the call up first.

Brown was a one kick wonder I think?

Think Stanley can kick.

But other than that, not sure.

Well yeah, just read the Mbye article stating he's been working with him adn will be first choice kicker, so thats good news.

From that keeping grub in line article:

Mbye is also expected to be the Bulldogs' first-choice goal-kicker in 2016, spending plenty of time in the off-season with former Bulldog and legendary sharp-shooter Daryl Halligan.
