It would be illegal to have a clause regarding injuries.
The club-employer has to provide workers compensation.

Yeh that's true, but pretty sure you can do base plus match payments... Only problem is I think all possible match payments are calculated into the cap.

Probably the worst signing in this clubs history.

By the time his current contract is up, he will have pocketed approximately $75,000 per game played for us. We’ve paid $75,000 per game across 3 seasons for a non-dominant half. Time to cut our losses and move on.

I reckon this is like when Folau claimed da games for future captaincy and coaching like the wallabies.

he's angling for a two year compromise.

I can't see him getting three years for more than 200k a pop.

the answer is very simple.

425 a year. Two years.
Second year clause only activated if he plays 18 games over a season (this also indirectly motivates him to get the team reach the semis).

That is honestly the answer.

Kennel, I plead to you, please upvote this comment. Get the word out.
The club invested 3.6 million on this guy over 3 years has played 30 odd games, great value for money, then he says he wants to repay loyalty to the club and refuses ,350 +bonuses, goodbye and good riddance

Surely they can negotiate a 2 yr deal. Who else we got atm.
Agreed. If we have no one else possibly 2 years at 350-400 and a third in clubs favour.
Risky but we ain’t got no one else, if we go with what we got minus Foz we fucked.

Only way I would re-sign him is if we implement a NFL style contract.

Offer a price for the season if he plays the required games, if not he gets a reduced salary.

IE 400k IF he completes 15+ games or if not, 15.5k per game played.

Only thing that makes it messy is the salary cap.

Time to cut our losses. We offered a fair deal apparently. He wanted 3 more years at more than our offer apparently. It’s a business. If you got someone who turns up to work for less than half the time. Do you give them a contract extension? Or cut them loose? Seems like a great guy and when fit a above average player. But not for that long and money. Wish him well. And good job club

Club has done the right thing . You can’t have your dominant half being an even money chance of getting injured every week.

How are we going to be cohesive if we have to change our spine frequently ???
Finally some common sense,Barrett was a great half, for him not to get involved, means he’s happy and confident in his ability to get the best or better of what we have, and while not many like Lewis or Wakeham, they will be better players, under Barrett, at the moment every time foran gets tackled,u wonder if he’s going to get up,good decision by club to let him go.
