Former NRL player Brett Finch has been charged with two fresh counts of using a carriage service to make available child abuse material.
It is alleged that Finch had used a gay adult hotline that was a front for men to take part in a child sex abuse chat group and share illicit material.
Finch was initially charged with five counts of using a carriage service to transmit, publish or promote child abuse material in December 2021 as part of the NSW Police Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad Strike Force Hank investigation.

His Sans Souci home was raided and his mobile phone was seized.

Eight men aged between 34 and 71 including Finch were arrested as part of the investigation.

The court matter was initially scheduled for Sutherland Local Court in January but proceedings were delayed and moved to Downing Centre in Sydney’s CBD.
His case was mentioned in court on Tuesday, May 10 at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court where Finch was represented by lawyer Robert Candelori.
Police tendered an amended court attendance notice that included the fresh charges. An adjournment was made for a July case conference.
Since the initial charges were laid Finch has been on strict conditional bail that requires him to check in with police once a week, not use any social media platforms, not make contact with anyone under the age of 16 or be in the vicinity of areas known to be visited by children.

He won the NRL premiership with the Storm in 2009, although the title was later stripped from the club for salary cap breaches.
He famously kicked the series winning field goal for the New South Wales Blues in State of Origin after being one of the last halves available in an injury crisis.

PointsBet was producing his podcast Brett Finch Uncensored but the contract was terminated the day the charges were laid.
Finch was also working for SEN at the time and was scheduled to be on-air the day the charges were laid, but his management advised that he would not be able to make it.
The Sydney Morning Herald has reported Finch is doing odd jobs to make ends meet until the court matter has concluded.

Let's hope no charges are dropped later on.

Plenty of water up here he can go for a swim in and never return...

Yet if I go around putting bullets in their heads I'll be the one that gets in trouble.

Fucking hell. Only found out about this now. Madness!

Can't get my head around how people do this in the first place. An absolute sickness in all honesty, they should be put somewhere their whole lives where they can't ever come near children ever.

But, for a big name league fella to be doing this? Fucking hell.

What prison sentence is he looking at?
