On 100% footy Gus denied any contact with anyone about Flanagan.

When they started talking about Hunt he takes his hand off the table and hides it down by his side. I try watch Gus and his body language. He also talks alot faster when he's lying, did this with Flanno talk tonight lol.

Was just a segment on Raiders after Wighton talk. Just mentioned Canberra gone cold on Brooks and would like to get Ben Hunt... Seemed like pure speculation, but as soon as Hunt was mentioned Gus body language changed and moved his hand.

I'm more than likely definitely readying into it to much lol but we've seen him lie and be coy too many times on 100% footy
 
While I get it that Gus didn't want to confirm the Flanagan transfer story, maybe because it's still being negotiated re salary split, Gus doesn't need to lie either. Cryptically he DID say no approach has been made to HIM. That's not to say an approach hasn't been made to the CEO though does it. Sure Gus would be consulted, but it's the CEO and CFO who would negotiate price with Manly counterparts. Of course Gus knows about it, he's just saying HE hasn't been approached by anyone at Manly.
 
Flanno Snr is pushing hard for it no doubt about it. He also said on the radio:

“We’ve got Schuster out for an extended period and we lose DCE to origin, it’s a position we are looking to strengthen”
 
Don’t discount the Flanagan..he didn’t drop his bundle and have a sook..came out in NSW Cup and had a pretty descent game at hooker, as the following extracts from today’s article at Fox Sports..

‘Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo challenged Kyle Flanagan to play hooker to see how versatile he could be — and the playmaker gave the coach plenty to think about.’

Flanagan started at hooker and finished the game with a try assist, a linebreak assist, 49 running metres and a game-high of 45 tackles — although he did miss four.

If Flanagan was to focus on developing his game at hooker he’d still be stuck behind Reed Mahoney, but it would give him a good shot at landing a bench utility role.’

Although to be honest reserve grade is probably his standard..that’s why he has pretty solid games when he plays at this level. Anyway, he may lack skill but doesn’t lack effort..be interesting how he would go as a utility..
 
Just because Flanagan hasn't gone to Manly yet doesn't mean it won't happen in the next few weeks. There seems to be plenty of smoke around it, and from Shane Flanagan and Seibold too, not just Buzz and the media..

It's pretty obvious Flanagan's days at the club are numbered. Either way, as long as he's not in FG, I could care less.

If the $60k that’s being reported on is true, I don’t understand why we’d let him go, he’s off contract end of year any way !

Why not continue playing him at 9 in NSW Cup & if we need him to cover for Reed or someone else he’s available, we know he’s defensively safe, still a lot of footy to be played, still hoping we push for 8th spot, why let him go cheaply, we might need him.

I wouldn’t be letting him go for $60k …

Kinda agree. It's over. Worth having a fresh unemcumbered new vibe around the place without his presence, even if only $60k (if thats the money Gus is negotiating).

It's not ideal for the players to be seeing him around and knowing its probably? a permanent demotion and cruel for Kyle as well. Let him go to try and show another team if he has something, so he can try for a contract in 2024 in NRL. Show that the club cares about the player's footy future and supports them.

It just didn't work out.

Gus has shown time and time again he won't hesitate to release a player who doesn't want to be here. Especially one that's a massive distraction. Let the media circus follow him to Manly

Exactly. I don’t hate the bloke and like I’ve said before you can’t question his fitness, defence, even effort. Though he’s just a poor nrl player and an absolute waste of space as far as attack. As a 7 he doesn’t organise anything. He doesn’t offer anything. Sorry.

He might not be kicking stones but he’s never going to be kept and he would likely be a negative impact for the club even if he’s ok as his father and the media will draw attention and reality is he can probably go play reserves/depth with his dad while his dad try’s to land a full coach job and take him there or plan his Europe move.

He tried but he’s bluntly been a disaster for us and our worst 7 in a long list of shocking options the last decade for me. Especially when you factor what he’s been paid.
