There is more chance of me piloting the next Moon landing than Benji Marshall coming to us in 2021. I mean who makes this shit up? Our roster is already an average of 45 years old, the only benefit of adding Marshall would allow us to apply for the pension for cap relief.

I wouldn't mind Jai field as he can run.
He's very quick. I would think he can be a cogger type squad player replacement. If he kicks on then great. A lower risk type investment.

He didn't direct the Roosters around. His defense is good enough. He really doesn't have any glaring weaknesses besides not being a match winner.
Sounds alright.. hopefully he can become a match winner with experience

I agree with those saying Lam is as good or better than Flanagan at this stage. That, along with Lam's extra versatility, is probably why the Roosters want him as back-up for Sam Walker. Doesn't mean Flanagan can't play. It's pretty common these days for other clubs to have 3 or 4 better players in a position than our best one.

Lam has been in the Roosters system and their top grade squad for 2-3 years now? I would imagine Roosters training and coaching staff is miles ahead of most teams especially those playing in the halves. Of course Lam is better at the moment. Agree with you, doesn't been Flanno can't play nor does it mean Lam will always be better than Flanno.
This situation was just not built for Flanno. He had big shoes to fill and it doesn't sound like the team had any patience for him. Wouldn't be surprised if Roosters end up fucking off Lam and Walker to sign some other established half, already heard rumors of Pearce.

Theres a bit of hesitancy with Barrett. He has promised not to steal any Panthers.
He has Hetherington, and now wants Burton. The Panthers will not be pleased.
He promised not to steal Penrith players without their knowledge, however with penriths blessing he can negotiate with and sign anyone especially like in hethros case where it relieves some of Penrith salary cap issues there is nothing wrong with it

Will be interesting to see who partners Kyle Flanagan next year. Seems like the likely scenario right now is that Green retires & we don't get Burton in 2021. So his halves partner would be someone from our existing stock (Lewis, Averillo, Wakeham).

I see Lewis as the most likely candidate; most experience of the 3 options + his defense is pretty solid for a halfback (ensures we don't have two halves with defensive weaknesses).

Can’t see it being Flanno and Lewis myself.
If we don’t get anyone else I’d like to see Avo get a run at 6. Showed some promise in the one game he played. Be good to see them get a complete off season together.

Ok lets say we have Burton and Flanagan coming next year, does that mean Avo at Fullback so;

1. Averillo
2. DWZ
3. Cotric
4. Hoppa
5. Meaney/Smith/Okenbor (Meaney/Smith until Okenbor recovers and comes back through Mounties
6. Burton
7. Flanagan

While pretty young and inexperienced, sounds like a pretty potent backline. Not to challenge next year but to get another years experience, playing together for a good shake 22/23
Really interested to see where Averillo fits in all of this. Both halves would come relatively cheap when looking at how much experienced halves would demand.

Do think we'll make another backline signing personally. JAC

I think averillo has to be in there somewhere. Whether he can make the transition to fullback who knows but I would back him with a bit of time. I think he’s got too much talent to be wasted in the centres. We need him to get his hand on the ball as much as possible so somewhere in the spine is ideal

I can't see Averillo playing fullback next year, more likely will be 3 or 6 but then again i'm not TB lol

More realistic at this stage seems to be:
1. Hopoate
2. Meaney
3. Cotric
4. Averillo
5. DWZ
6. Lewis (hopefully Burton instead)
7. Flanagan

I personally would prefer Hopoate in the centres, a specialised fullback and Averillo off the bench or even at 6 if we don't get Burton.

Chuck Averillo in at 6 he cannot defend at centre and his confidence is just going to be shot the longer he stays there and gets carved up. He might get carved up in the halves too but he can get more help there and there’s less decision making for him to have to do.

Agree, he’s not a centre looks to get frustrated playing there to me.
Give him some ball and time at 6, more freedom. which leads us to needing a decent 9.
