Hey guys.
This might turn out to be a flop of a thread.

But I thought I'd start a thread for people to talk about their goals and achievements no matter how big or small.

Bit of background.
Some of you may know I fell ill and needed an operation.

I lost 10kgs in a few days.
Not a good way to lose weight.

But I used that as motivation.
I was sitting at 108kgs.
I am now 95kgs.
For context,
I am a shorty only 177cm tall.
Under my fat layer I'm a slight frame kinda guy.
I was wearing size 38 pants
I'm trying to get down to size 34, currently 36s
I'm trying to also get into a large shirt, currently 2 xl

But weight, I want to get down to 80kgs.

I'm not setting any time limits.
Just eating better and doing regular exercise
I'm doing gym classes sessions 3 arvo a week

Today was my 2nd session
The pain, my God, I'm struggling.

Enough about me.
I'm hoping everyone can discuss their story, discuss their goals and support each other.

Also,
If there is a fat lazy prick who gets inspired by this thread to turn their life around, then that would make my day.

Anyway,
Looking forward to hearing everyone's fitness stories and progress.

No matter what level, it's all exercise

Oh, and feel free to share healthy meal ideas

Sorry to hear about your illness I hope you recover well

Man, I use to be beast. Fit, sexy body, abs, benching 180kgs, gym with my life. Until I had kids, complete dad bod now. I do want to get back into shape, I went to the gym yesterday actually and bench 20kgs after the work out my elbows were fucked. Goes to show age and not use to lifting again.

Just takes time and consistency, one step at a time.

I know right,
I was never a strength gym beast
But I was always fit and lean fast agile.

I'm the same
Had kids, stopped sports, got off the tools into the office.
And yeah years steam by and boom I'm fat midled age guy.

Your story is much the same by the sounds of things.

Glad to hear you back at the gym.
Our love of bbq doesn't help haha.

If you don't mind, it's cool if you don't want to share.
But what are your goals you trying to achieve

Major support to you. I occasionally get fit but always end up lapsing. Right now I'm pretty heavy. 110kegs at 6'3" with a majority being fat. Had planned to get fit again but as I just spawned a little minion, I'm now more concerned about just getting a single night of sleep.

Good for you Roo, aim for 85kg at 177cm, remember muscle is heavier than fat, so dont let numbers do your head in.
That's excellent advise.
My doctor told me to get down to 75.
It seems way to lean for a man of my age.
The guys at the gym have all told me 75 is to small and I should aim for 80 to 85 like you say.

To be honest, you right
Weight isn't important.
I'm more worried about being healthy and losing my fat gut and back fat.
I'd like to wear nice cloths again without buttons popping out lol.

All the best with it mate. My best advice is don’t weigh yourself unless you are comparing body scans. You’ll feel the weight loss or muscle gain in your clothes as you already are

@tonee give yourself a wrap mate, sexy body hahaha

Haha, congrats on the bub mate,
I don't miss those days. I can handle most things but lack of regular sleep tests the best of us.

6 3 and 110kegs isn't too bad.
I was almost that and I'm much shorter.

What's your ideal healthy weight

My doctor tells me that my ideal weight is 80kgs. When I was in high school I was 80kgs. A light breeze could snap me in half.

BMIs are pretty bad in general.

Doctors always tell you to be way lighter than being realistic, they must eat grass, you will know in yourself your best weight looking in mirror and feeling more energetic. Eat less meal size and do weights, that way you dont have to go silly on cardio.

Dude as you know I can’t move so it’s difficult to stay at a healthy weight.. Gosh I was super fit before my accident..actually if I wasn’t so fit I would have died on the field..any way that is beside the point.. We talking now..I can do some cardiovascular exercises..but not much..so I decided I’d have to look at my diet to stay a good weight.. As such after some internet searches I settled on this as a rule of thumb..Looking at the Nutritional Contents on wherever I was eating Id follow this.. All measurements under the per 100grams headpings..

Saturated Fats under 10g
Sugar under 15g
Sodium optimum under 200mg but you can have up too 400mg

Also cut down your meat intake..I had chicken..but both need to cut down..veggies and salads are your friend..if you have a sweet tooth a couple of squares of Dark Chocolate..or nuts.. Munch Nuts are great..

This worked a treat for me..took a lot of fat off my stomach...

Anyway good luck..hit that gym..it’s your friend not your enemy..and I’m sure you’ll make a healthier you!

I don't like the feeling of muscle fibres being damaged and repaired over and over again.
I know what you saying
After 2 sessions, I'm really feeling it.
Surely the muscle pain goes away once you condition yourself and get fitter and stronger,
Well I hope it will.

Yeah I tend to agree.
Vets are the same.
Haha our boarder collie is fit as, and when you wash her she looks like a drowned rat
Nothing of her under all her fur, yet every year the vet tells us to try get her weight down a little.

Doctors and vets want us all to be sticks

Tbh, 100% weight isn’t important it’s only good to know to keep track of your progression whether that be losing or gaining weight.

The other best most under utilised tool that every one has is a simple mirror over time you’ll see and feel your progress.

In terms of my goals, eat healthy, get fit, loose my gut, I don’t expect to be the guy I was 10 years ago but I want to be fit and healthy fit my kids.

lol BBQ doesn’t help, I’ll just need to adjust and just be the chef to feed others

Side note for a fit person I use to be a heavy smoker for 15 odd years I’ve quite and haven’t had one since Feb this year after my daughter was born. Definitely feel a huge difference.

I should get myself a bit fitter but my motivation levels are that of a sloth.

Probably some strength and conditioning wouldn't go astray, need to get my cardio up.

It does, I'm just doing some stuff to work on my posture and previous areas I injured as a teenager. My god it absolutely sucks engaging underused muscles and trying correct movemtent, absolutely hate it. Reminds me of my first day of real hard work, was laying turf in the rain and I was barely 60kg. You could imagine how hard that was on my puny body :tearsofjoy:

Mate,
Your journey is inspiring
It's hard enough to look after yourself when you able body,
To have a disability makes it super hard.

Yeah my diet and portion sizes have had a overall since my operation.

My love of all things bbq has had to take a back seat for a while.

I'm love fish so trying to eat more fish when I can.

My snacks now are really just fruit and nuts.
Lucky I do live both, can't believe I been eating chips and buskits rather than fruit and nuts for so long.

Need to increase my veggies though

I'm always wanting to snack of a night before bed.

It's a struggle every night not to eat whilst watching TV or scanning the kennel.

That's what I struggle with the most
