Josh Addo-Carr won’t attend his side’s blockbuster finals clash against Manly at Accor Stadium to ensure his presence does not become a distraction for the club.

Addo-Carr has accepted a $682 fine and a three-month suspension from driving after allegedly testing positive to cocaine at a roadside police test last Friday. The Canterbury winger maintains he did not knowingly take any illicit drugs, but accepted the police infringement notice to spare his club and family adverse publicity.

In the same week as his 30th birthday, the Storm superstar opened the scoring against the Sharks.
Sunday’s clash marks the first time the Bulldogs have qualified for finals football in eight seasons. While Addo-Carr wanted to be present to support his teammates, the 29-year-old felt his presence would spark a media circus.

“Josh is fully supportive of his teammates, but has chosen not to attend the game to ensure there are no distractions for the team and the club,” his agent, Mario Tartak, said.

“He will still be cheering them on in the hope they win the game and extend their season.”

Addo-Carr stood down from the opening week of the finals on Tuesday, before police announced a second positive test result on Friday. Now that he has chosen not to contest the infringement notice, and coupled with questions about whether he was fully transparent with the club about the incident, the next issue will be whether his contract is terminated.

The Bulldogs will ensure they go through the correct process in coming to a decision on Addo-Carr’s future, mindful that Cronulla settled with Todd Carney after the playmaker launched an unfair dismissal claim over his sacking from the club.

“My concern at the moment is for Josh and his entire family,” Tartak said.

Allianz won't be big enough. Shutting out 20,000. Will be played at Accor if dogs are playung. NRL decides where games are played from week 2 finals.

Won’t be at Accor, wallabies play all blacks there next Saturday, winner of tomorrow will have to play Saturday, the NRL surely can’t make a team play on a 5 day turnaround in the finals.

Let’s hope the trend of refs keeping the whistle in there pockets keeps up tomorrow.

Na you had no excuse sis, full strength, at home and with everything to play for.

1 win from 7 in those 2 months. (I think it was)

We beat the Knights the week before.

We were on fire. :tearsofjoy:

I’ll most likely receive hate from the positive crew who were happy with Dean Pays 12th but if we lose tomorrow it’s a failed season. Definitely have the squad to make at least the second week of finals.

Doggies 34-18 tmro

Good move by the club asking Fox to stay away from Accor tomorrow. It would be like Barnum and Baileys media time.
Another sign they are disappointed with his story tellin bit like the silent treatment.

There is definetely a strong trend that teams are flat the week after a very hard game.
Funny how both Manly and Cows gave it their all against us and had their best game of the year against us.
It was no supprise to me that both were very flat the week after.
