Blake Ferguson's management has reportedly been told he won't be offered a contract at the Parramatta Eels beyond next season.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Ferguson's management was informed a fortnight ago that there won't be a spot for him at the club after 2021.

The former NSW winger was huge for the Eels in the first year of his deal but was inconsistent in 2020 after signing a three-year $1.5 million contract in 2019.

If Ferguson can find an extended deal with another club immediately Parramatta wouldn't stand in his way but it's understood the Eels are happy to fulfill their contractual obligations for next season.

He's a meter eating winger and strong runner of the ball, any interest?

Parra will have to pay a large chunk of his remaining year. Nobody will fork out cash for a washed up winger with so many young fellas coming thru

Has anyone made a decent analysis as to why as a winger Fergo has gone from Origin last year, to not even wanted by his club this year? Is it purely on field performances? If so, why has he lost so much form in a relatively short period of time?

Valid questions. Here are his 2020 stats.

DEFENCE TACKLES MADE 117, MISSED TACKLES 22,

The only real thing that is glaring is the lack of tries and line breaks. Other than that it seems fairly decent for a winger. A few too many missed tackles maybe. Mind you, these are stats you'd probably feel like you should get from someone on half of what Ferg is on. Did he make a lot of errors in 2020? It feels like the whole parra team bumbled their way through most of the season...

Can't say I watched much of Parra play this season so didn't see any of Fergo, but I do know his first try came late in the season. I don't know if he was a victim of a changed attack or he got lazy to be honest.

Would he be better than you've got is probably the pertinent question?

Couple of years ago? Fo sho.

But now? Why doesn't Parra want him?

He's definitely not the same player he was when he signed with Parra.

But yeah not sure why they dont want to offer him a new deal - maybe his asking price is too high? Would also assume some of the salaries on their roster will go up.. ie. Dylan Brown, Nathan Brown, Matterson would have been on a back ended deal etc.

Would be a good pick up for us.

I think that's prob his halves fault more than anything.

Still a top class finisher and he's built like a brick house

Agreed, anytime a wingers try tally more than halves from one season to the next you have to ask some questions about what the blokes inside him are doing.
Yeah and Fergo offers way more than just tries and linebreaks. He takes about 20 carries a game and most out of the red zone. Basically like having another forward.

For the right price he would be an excellent signing.

His lack of tries is broadly due to Parra favouring their attack on Sivo’s side of the field.
