A 54-year-old man is 'brain dead' and clinging onto life after he was bashed in a horror gang attack in Melbourne.
The father was caught up in an eight-man brawl at a home in Morrolbark in the east of the city at about 11pm on Christmas Day.
The man's wife and 25-year-old daughter were also attacked, a devastated relative said.
'They knocked my sister out, and had my niece - from what I understand - by the hair,' he told 3AW.
'He's in intensive care. He's brain dead. It's heartbreaking.'
The man was repeatedly bashed in the head and is in a critical condition in intensive care.
A 50-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man was arrested but was later released.
