The good daysYeah the Wok was brutal. He got his payback with Greg Smith at the Knights .
I saw more of Max in reserves in the good old days when you could go to Belmore and watch 3 games in an afternoon, or 2 at the least if the old U-23’s and later Presidents Cup / U-21’s wasn’t your thing...
Your spot on buddy, but I still maintain we are so lucky to have witnessed what we saw, there was just an excitement about it that you can't explain unless you were there & we were thank god. you just knew every week he would produce something special and 9 times out of ten he did (mind you he had a pretty good team around him ) but he was the instigator. You can generally tell the age of the supporters on the kennel. The ones like us who saw Turvey play know he's superior against the other great halves. The ones (Millienials etc) who never saw him play think Johns and JT are the "GOAT".
astest: Rod Silva

List your best Bulldogs of all timein your opinion.
Since my only recollection can begin from the 80’s my selections start from there.
There are plenty of others and there is no definitive answer but this is what I went with.

Turvey was the complete package. Great kicking game. Fast acceleration and could hold his speed. The king of the chip and chase and the great cover defense. No other halfback could come close to his cover defense.Your spot on buddy, but I still maintain we are so lucky to have witnessed what we saw, there was just an excitement about it that you can't explain unless you were there & we were thank god. you just knew every week he would produce something special and 9 times out of ten he did (mind you he had a pretty good team around him ) but he was the instigator.
All those things you said there is no comparison now. League of his own.Turvey was the complete package. Great kicking game. Fast acceleration and could hold his speed. The king of the chip and chase and the great cover defense. No other halfback could come close to his cover defense.
AND - knocking on the kick-off in the 1994 GF.Dumbest: Martin Bella (for playing ball backwards)
Yeah good times back then. If you said to me at the time this will be Dogs last premiership victory for the next 20 years I would have said "bullshit". Goes to show you gotta savour moments like Bobcat smashing Crocker and winning a competition if you're lucky enough to experience themI remember it exactly like that too. I jumped to my feet so quickly off that GF winning tackled and screamed so loud that I fairdinkum nearly fainted.
