The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs can confirm Raymond Faitala-Mariner will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2021 season.

The back-rower suffered an incomplete fracture of the navicular bone in his right foot earlier in the season during the club’s round two clash with the Penrith Panthers.

Faitala-Mariner required surgery at the time and was looking at 16-20 weeks on the sideline, but in consultation with the specialist, he has advised the club’s medical team that it will take the full six months to recover and therefore ending his season.

Ray is extremely disappointed he will not be able to take part in any further games but is extremely motivated to rehabilitate his injury and looks forward to season 2022.

It's probably for the best for him to not risk re-injuring himself and being healthy going into the offseason. But there's no guarantee he'll be healthy next season either as he misses so many games.

I remember when he got injured the NRL Physio saying the bone he broke in his foot was the most troublesome as it gets very little blood supply, and it is quite common for the injury to not heal in the expected time and to take much longer.

Happy for the club to show him loyalty and keep him long term on a reduced contract... However going forward we have to plan for him to be a bench forward as he can play edge and middles. Cant afford to risk him as a starter in key combinations only for him to get injured

I’m not sure he has a contract past this year, potentially a very good player, but over the last 2 years hasn’t managed to play anymore than a handful of games

RFM is deadset made of glass. He’s either injured or playing inconsistent footy. What a waste of cap space he is.
I disagree. What a massively unlucky and wierd innury to get. Its not lile he gets injured every hit up, its just a freak accident that happens to take ashit load of time to rehab.
