But doesn't that info/comment you post stay out there through a Google search?
Only if it's buffered on a Google proxy server. And even if it is, it'll disappear when Google updates their servers which should only take 1 month Max.

It's going to have far reaching consequences for business built around FB and Twitter platforms and will take a long time for them to adjust.

Scenario:

How long before businesses completely cut out the Govt and ask FB to take them back?

FB could get them to sign a waiver about content paying and further embarrass Fletcher.

out of curiosity, would you be able to link to a twitter/instagram post which then has a link to the website?

Depends what Facebook deems as news.

It seems they've taken a very broad brush to get rid of BOM, NSW Incidents, Aus Gov announcements, etc to make a point about the new legislation and what's classified as "news content".

It's just Facebook pushing their weight at the moment, expect most of it to come back after negotiations, but it could go to the level that Facebook refuse any compensation for actual media agencies, hence it may be that all media agencies are taken off Facebook but the other things come back

Another down side, thats fully apparent now that we dont have Australian news appearing on FB, is an even more heavily weighted amount of USA news in feeds.

Australian media surely the losers in this stoush.

Scomo must love this - he gets even less scrutiny of his fuck ups.
It wont last long probably.

Once Rupert sees the full affect of loosing FB clicks on his locked sites, and more importantly his advertisers start seeing the reduced traffic, this will all be re-negotiated with FB ...and Google wont be happy they are paying either.
