Jackson Hastings is a name that is on everyone’s lips at present after taking the NRL by storm upon his return.

After almost four years in the UK Super League, the Australian halfback earned himself a deal back Down Under with the Wests Tigers and has impressed in a struggling side.

However, with Michael Maguire’s sacking – the coach who brought Hastings to the club ahead of the 2022 season – there have been question marks over where the halfback’s future lies with the Canterbury Bulldogs reportedly interested in bringing the 26-year-old to Belmore.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, it is not only the Bulldogs that are interested with the Newcastle Knights also have had discussions about luring Hastings to Newcastle for 2023.

Hastings is contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2023, but his management are close with Newcastle’s recruitment manager Clint Zammit.

The former Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils man is currently on a deal worth $375,000 in 2022, but that increases to around $500,000 next season.

A cryptic Hastings post on his Instagram last week had left Tigers fans questioning whether the halfback would follow Maguire out of the club after being linked with a move away.

His post showed a photo of the halfback and the head coach with three shaking hand emojis in one last message to his former boss as it seems there is no shortage of suitors for the playmaker.

And, now Hastings’ new photos on Instagram have been met with begging from Wests fans to stay at the club.

Wests, too, are planning on putting a big contract under the nose of the former Wigan man, according to Fox Sports as well as fellow halfback Adam Doueihi and fullback Daine Laurie in a bid to warn off any suitors – from Australia and the UK.

It remains to be seen what kind of monetary offer it would be for Hastings given that it was a bit of a gamble for the Tigers to sign the halfback following a successful spell in Super League, but it will almost certainly be an improved offer.

Can’t see it, probably too dear but wouldn’t mind it, busy halfback who’s a leader to take the load off Burto however still heard mixed reports of his character

He’s overrated. Yes he is solid but ive seen people have him in top 5 halfback discussions for this year. I dont see it happening although wouldnt be angry if it did.

Sound's as though his manager is trying to get more money, haven't seen much of him but reading comment's from the tigers forum he's been pretty average, could be playing injured which wouldn't help, I would persist with Flanagan, he's young no injuries and he's still another season on his contract to run and bring in Sherwin for guidance jmo!!

I don’t know. Tigers are running dead last. All I know is he handles the ball a lot. Though we don’t need a superstar half to take pressure of Burton.

Very true he can game manage. Our club needs to look at how we want to play. Having a good game managing 7 is fantastic if we are going to take advantage of Mahoney's service.

So with that said, if we can sort out our middle third and win the ruck regularly, we are going to get the ball to the edges way more effectively than we are now.

Having Mahoney and Hastings take control would free up Burton and Averillo so and allow them to run and pick their moments.

Ye he sure handles the ball a lot but he hardly ever takes the line on.....not our longterm halfback

Hardly ever takes the line on ? Bloke averages the most run metres and touches out of any 7. He's just in a broken system ATM.

Trying to do too much as no one else in that team has a go except Ofhenguae. New club, get his foot right and have his role simplified and he will be much more effective.
