Totally agree that their squad wasn’t up to scratch even last season but we’ve been reading just how top quality squad they have . Once again it’s only the minority saying this.a lot of problems with the United squad before even getting to CR7
De Gea is a great keeper, a great shot stopper, but lacks the control and kicking game of other great modern day keepers (Neuer, Alisson, Ederson) which is important when playing the ball out from the back... if Maguire wasn't English, the world's most expensive defender and didn't have the captain's armband, he'd have been dropped after the Leicester game --> hard to remember as diabolical a run of form from a CB at a big club as Maguire this season... Lindelof is soft and bad in the air... Dalot cannot defend, Wan Bissaka can't attack... Shaw's decision making and conditioning is a problem... McTominay and Fred are simply not good enough to be starting CMs for United because their only attributes (running, positioning, workrate) are off ball --> as soon as they get the ball, it's all sideways, rudimentary, or sh*t the bed... Rashford and Greenwood are selfish, glory hunting footballers --> head down, blinkers on and just try and score a goal --> pretty much CR7 wannabes without the talent and determination... Fernandes is wasteful... Sancho has not fit in as yet... Martial wants out... Van de Beek must suck on the training paddock considering how little his managers rely on him etc.
But they we’re playing better last season.
Maguire is a championship level defender, nothing more nothing less. This has been posted in here a while ago.
Wan Bissaka and Shaw were talked up last season, Shaw as the best left back in the PL and so on. For all his shortcomings Mourinio is no idiot when it comes to ability of players .
Realistically speaking they have only 1 decent defender and that’s Varane .
Fred and Mac Tominay are rubbish, again we’ve laboured on this many times but with the arrival of Ragnick all of a sudden Fred was a player that Guardiola wanted blah blah blah and that Ralph will get the best out of him.
Fernades is wasteful ? I would say overrated, his penalties have dried up and so have his goals. He offered nothing yet again today.
And this new system that Ragnick is trying to implement something like a 4-4-2 box where you need players with transitional movement and a high work rate Fernandes certainly doesn’t fit into it the way he plays.
Pogba was another waste of money signing, he never really settled in and has wanted to leave since last season.
The only positions they have covered is up front , other teams would kill to have some of the players they have up front but the team now plays to suit Ronaldo , and if Ronaldo doesn’t play he has his supporters making public statements in his favour.
