Avicii, the Grammy-nominated electronic dance DJ who performed sold-out concerts for feverish fans around the world and also had massive success on US pop radio, has died aged 28.

Publicist Diana Baron said in a statement the Swedish performer, born Tim Bergling, was found dead in Muscat, Oman.

"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," the statement read.

"The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."

No more details about the death were provided.

Oman police and state media had no immediate report late on Friday night on the artist's death.

...

Avicii is the subject of the 2017 Levan Tsikurishvil documentary Avicii: True Stories.

He had in the past suffered acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking.

After having his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014, he cancelled a series of shows in attempt to recover.

He quit touring in 2016 but continued making music in the studio.

"It's been a very crazy journey. I started producing when I was 16. I started touring when I was 18. From that point on, I just jumped into 100 per cent," Avicii told Billboard magazine in 2016.

"When I look back on my life, I think: whoa, did I do that? It was the best time of my life in a sense.

"It came with a price — a lot of stress a lot of anxiety for me — but it was the best journey of my life."

He said being an introverted person, it was hard to be in the spotlight.

"The scene was not for me. It was not the shows and not the music. It was always the other stuff surrounding it that never came naturally to me," he told the magazine.

"I'm more of an introverted person in general. It was always very hard for me. I took on board too much negative energy, I think," he added at the time.

Last year, he posted this message on his website, promising to keep creating: "The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new."

Muscat, where Avicii died, is the capital of the sultanate on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, and is a popular vacation destination on the Arabian Sea.

Woke up this morning and read this news.

May he rest forever in peace, with his music a lasting legacy of his immense talent.

No cause of death has been released, and apart from a battle with alcohol, he's spoken out before about not having an interest in drugs.

Really not sure what to think of this one... :(

really? you had your gall bladder removed? when and why?

recently I was diagnosed with polyps in my gall bladder and they go and up and down in size staying below 10 mm (over 10 mm are of high chance of becoming cancerous). Doctors have recommended to have it remove it but I don't want to remove it cos it is not giving me any pain or trouble. I am monitoring it, if the polyps go above 10 mm then I would have to take it out.

I am highly concerned about changes that will bring in my life. I have heard that people without gall bladder always have diarrhoea and bowl issues and cant eat big meals. did this happen to you after you had it removed?

Back when I was 17 lol. Mine was diseased or something along those lines which was going to poison my pancreas. (They also suspected cancer as a pre caution I guess).
The reason I had it taken out was coz I actually got the crippling pain which I had since I was about 13 lol but put up with it coz I always hid the pain and never made a big deal and when I finally complained everyone thought I was just wanting attention lol!
At first the gp thought much the same as well lol and thought it’s just nothing but then I researched my self and told her hmmmm what about my gallbladder, she’s like hmmm let’s do an ultra sound. It’s like fuck I should have been the dr lol.
You’ll know when you have the pain bro you will be on floor gasping for air and crying like a bitch as if you were a genderless fish stick. Na jokes you can’t even cry coz you’re too busy trying to get some air haha.

As for post? Yes I get the runs very occasionally man it’s so annoying, I try and take probiotics to help it does a bit but you can’t do much coz at the end of the day you still don’t have that organ burning the fats so it goes straight to the liver as is and then apparently the intestines try and break down the fats but doesn’t really work.

So my advice bro, do whatever you need to do to make sure it’s not cancer or anything serious god forbid and leave it in their. But if you get the pains I think there’s no other option. I advise against dealing with the pain for 4 years then doing something lol.

thanks for the heads up and telling me/ every one your personal story.

I believe you would have had gall stones cos the stones are painfull and yes once you get stones basically they will give you (crazy) pain as you explained till you get the gall bladder out... there is no other option with gall stones. Gall stones are never cancerous so even if you leave them in as long as you can handle the pain, stones never turn into cancer.

mine are polyps , which are absolutely painless and are found accidently in gall bladder when you are scanning for something else. polyps bigger than 10 mm can become cancerous and that is when docs recommend to take the gall bladder out. the problem is stats say that 95% of the gall bladder taken out due to polyps 10 mm or bigger turned out to be non cancerous and just fatty growth inside the baldder when they did the biopsy once the bladder was out.

Like I said losing the bladder is not the issue with me , it is just the change in my diet and getting the runs for the rest of my life which is my concern. but again I don't want to be one of those 5% who did have cancerous polyps. lol

Imagine you go through an operation to lose a vital organ in your body for the rest of your life + the life style change, then they do a check and tell you o sorry you could have kept you bladder, it was just fatty tissues. lol

My family has a history of polyps in the gall bladder. My mother gets them all the time but has never had her gall bladder removed. But she has to go in for colonoscopies often.

I get to look forward to it one day.

Honestly I have always had the utmost respect for this guy. I'm not a fan of DJ's and dance music but his music is actually really good. Reminds me of a mix of country music and folk music. Not your usual dance music. Such a pity to lose a talent like that.

polyps don't usually come and go away. they stay there, they either grow in size or remain the same size. they don't disappear once they appear.

Yep. It just depends if they're cancerous or not. If they're cancerous (or potentially cancerous) then you have to get the gallbladder removed. If not then you have to just keep going in for tests to make sure that you haven't grown any cancerous ones. Fortunately all the ones my mum has grown have been non-cancerous at this stage.

yeah , the only way they can tell if they are cancerous is the size of polyp i.e. 10 mm and below is non cancerous and above is considered cancerous.

now this sucks cos mine are sitting at 9.3 mm at this stage. lol

it also sucks to know that measurement accuracy is operator dependant too... so one operator can measure my polyp as 9.3 mm the other will measure the same polyp at 10 mm. so for one I can go and eat a garlic prawn pizza and for the other I haven't gone long to live unless I take my bladder out. lol

Na bro I actually didn’t have stones they said ‘inflamed’ that’s why they thought what they did as they saw no stones.
Stones can become dangerous if you get a lot and they block the liver and intestines and all that.

Polyps are always a worry so yeah make sure they’re not cancerous I’m sure there’s a way they can know without taking the gallbladder out?

I went to 3 specialist surgeons as second and third opinions just to make sure and they all said the same thing. I think there was an article about how some surgeons take out gallbladder’s when they don’t really need to coz it’s a relatively easy and good money for them.

Was pretty saddened by this, have been listening to EDM for a long time and he always had a good taste for the right beats and was good at easing people into the music style

Rest easy young man

yeah stones can be very dangerous if they move out of the bladder and get stuck in the bile duct. I hear you and I wont be surprised if the surgeons are removing the bladders way too early just to make some money.

Glad you had it sorted. so bro tell me from your experience. Where do you fit your self in the scale of 1 to 10 post op.

where

1 = heavily impacted my life style, eating habits and body and
10 = barely had any change on my life style, eating habits and body

Hmmmmm I’d say a 6 or something. I became allergic to codeine somehow where I’d have to go hospital if I consumed it. Ummmm many foods now set me off to the toilet. Consuming things in general is a bit harsher on the body as it goes straight to the liver without the gallbladder helping it prior. My liver enzymes tend to fluctuate a lot because of this. I know you don’t drink but I was going to say alcohol does not help lol.

6 is not too bad I guess.

I think you are about the function of gall bladder. the food doesn't go into the gall bladder anyway , gall bladder is like a regulator which controls the bile juice (which breaks down the fat in the food) into the liver. So having no gall bladder means the bile juice continuously drips into the stomach/ liver even if there is no food. so when you consume too much fatty food and there is no gall bladder, there is nothing to release too much bile at once to break down that huge fat. it will only release the bile what is always releasing irrespective of the quantity of fat to digest, hence why un digested fatty food passes along gives bowls problem to people having no gall bladder. Also the reason why after removing the gall bladder they tell you to start having small meals and avoid big meals and the reason is the same I just mentioned.

you work out and take protein shakes I believe. Having no GB affected your work out regime or supplement intake in anyway?

Well I’m also lactose intolerant so I’ve stopped having regular protein shakes, even whey protein shakes that day they’re lactose free still give me issues after losing the gall bladder so currently I take a whole amino acid protein supplement that has like 0 calories and no issues with digestion.

Oh I forgot to mention, you’ll get a lot of stomach acid and reflux/heart burns as well after losing the gallbladder to the point where you’ll need medication coz when I get them they get bad that I fkn vomit lol.

But yeah that’s what I meant about the gallbladder not helping with the food, as in it’s not there anymore to break down the fats and all that which puts stress on the liver and smaller intestine to do more work.
