How was this not bigger news? Guy was placed in an induced coma because he couldn't breathe.

NRL Judiciary Report: Eddie Blacker suspended following trial incident with Jack Williams

While they're not for premiership points, the NRL pre-season trials still have consequences, just ask Eddie Blacker and Jack Williams.

The former will miss three games after taking an early guilty plea for dangerous contact on the latter in Cronulla's 36-28 trial win over St George Illawarra on Friday night.

Hooker Williams, not to be confused with the club's prop of the same name, was actually placed in an induced coma following the incident.

Blacker's elbow made contact with Williams' throat as he attempted to make a tackle, eventually requiring medical intervention as he struggled to breathe.

The 24-year-old was placed in an induced coma as a precaution to help his breathing and is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident has cost 21-year-old prop Blacker, who was charged with grade-two dangerous contact and has 85 carry-over points.

He will now miss three games, which must be served once the season proper starts.

Blacker has played one first-grade game, in round 20 last year, but will have been keen to push his case with new coach Anthony Griffin this season.

Two other players were charged in the same trial game, with Jayden Sullivan and Kayleb Milne both hit with grade-one dangerous throw charges.

Clean records mean they've avoided a one-game suspension with early guilty pleas.

Right away I'm asking if it was actually a dragons sharks game as the article implies or something more like knights vs dragons.
