Well the fact that the Dragons thought they could win the whole shebang by leading for the first part of the year has been the case now for three years. The competition is over 26 weeks ( well only 25 this year) yet they persist with trying to out physical every other side early on. These days with the competition being so close it just won't work. They need to pace themselves and build over time not go hell for leather first round and onward as they have found much to their dismay. They were blessed with close to nil injuries for a great part of the season and now they are finding that it is not all rosy with the following all occurring within the last week or month:
Paul Vaughan (foot, season)
Euan Aitken (hamstring, TBC)
Jason Nightingale (elbow, grand final)
Gareth Widdop (shoulder, round 25-finals)
Their depth sucks and injuries to anyone in their top 17 means that for the most part they really don't have any standouts should they need to call up a player as a replacement.
It has also been reported that De Belin has been having on going issues getting 'motivated' and has not been himself for a while, well reportedly since Origin ended. Their fans have now come to the realisation that once again they will fall at the last hurdle as they have for three seasons. They have vented their frustration with torrents of abuse on social media and some unsavoury scenes yesterday where they roundly booed the side and even went to the extent of having one person throw a scarf at Graham as if blaming him for their woes.
