yeah backed by their government. dont like their chances of enticing players from australia or NZ to relocate to PNG, im sure they've got local talent though. do they have the infrastructure required?
I read somewhere that they would be based in NTH QLD somewhere and travel back to PNG for home games. Some kind of visa deal would allow the PNG players to stay in Aus to live and train, while non PNG players could be recruited and not have to relocate to PNG. It’s certainly an interesting scenario for the NRL in the future.

im open to it, but again not sure how recruitment would go for them - or the 18th team in general for that matter given how hard the Dolphins have struggled for talent

Surely it would make more sense to just bring back the Bears instead of another team in New Zealand when the current one sucks or PNG who would be perenniel wooden spooners?

can the PNG team only use PNG players? If not it won't be a PNG team for long. I think continue to keep them in reserve grade (where they can only use PNG players) and just let NRL clubs pick them up. You can't do that in the NRL.

very average looking squad so far, but bennett will still probably get them into the 8.
He has a way of getting the blokes to play as a Team, not individuals.

So how is nrl going to work next year? Instead of the 2 bye rounds does everyone just get a bye or 2 each different week?

Unless they acquire at least 5 more decent first graders including 2 marquee players they will run last.

Graham, Roberts and Jackson are development players, not top 30.
